you only see the ones who do so on teevee, and this gives you the false impression that all sheriffs, or even a majority do act like this. you don't see the sheriffs who are quietly doing their job and following the rule of law being interviewed by geraldo. dog bites man is not a story, remember? man bites dog is

how many are like joe arpaio? a very tiny percentage. he's an outlier.
