He sounds like FoxNews, some things never change...welcome George W Bush, who will be at that same hotel tomorrow.

2. More like a truly pathetic figure...
During the time when L'il Abner was riding high, Al Capp was a popular-culture star...and a noted progressive, I might add. But, eventually, his time at the top ran out and he became a bitter, aging has-been, noted for alcoholism and attempts to hit on much younger girls. The anger you see him direct at Lennon and Ono here is, like much of his non-stop vitriol aimed at young people of the '60s, clearly a projection of the self-loathing he felt for no longer being young, dynamic, and in the spotlight.

6. Al Capp was the polar opposite of John Lennon.
In the '60s, Capp's politics swung from liberal to conservative, and he began spoofing counterculture icons instead of big business types. He became a popular speaker on college campuses during the era, attacking anti-war protesters and demonstrators. In 1971, however, he was charged with the attempted rape of a coed at the University of Wisconsin. It developed that there were similar allegations from at least four other campuses. Capp pleaded no contest and withdrew from public speaking.

7. Consistent with conservatives - does not listen; only reacts
to little words here and there. It obfuscates the conversation so it bounces from one idea to another without getting anywhere.

You're right, some things never change.
