3. And when poor people in this country start expressing their anger, it will be one big explosion.
Thank you for posting this...it's very painful to watch, but it must be HEARD.

As a member of the clergy, he KNOWS our many sins!

7. So many have tried, but we have institutionalized them. Poverty is the worst of the sins.

4. There was never any doubt that he was railroaded.
A powerful speaker with a powerful message that many don't want to hear.

<Hands over ears>"Nah nah nah nah I'm not listening!"</Hands over ears>

14. So you're saying you condone the death of innocent people?
Edited on Thu Oct-22-09 12:56 AM by quantass
Put another way: It's like saying as long as someone doesnt hurt your feelings you are totally fine with that same person one day knocking on your door and killing you for no reason...i'd take a verbal attack than a bullet any day...but that's just me.

America is a funny place...just the other day there was a list of Republicans For Rape: http://www.republicansforrape.org/legislators/ . And they are proud of it. Does the press care? No. Does America the People care?...No. Did these high ranking officals lose their jobs?...Heaven's no...because afterall...that is what America wants, right...otherwise America would be up in arms about it. Politics has a way of muddying up the underlying facts. 'Nuf said.

28. He didn't slam Hillary for being white.
He claimed Obama as an African-American could better relate to the concerns of the African-American community then Hillary, because of their shared common experiences. If I were to claim that Hillary could better relate to the concerns of women then Obama, is that a slam against Obama? I don't think so. Rev. Wright's comments were made at a time when some were claiming that Obama wasn't black enough and couldn't relate to the African-American experience. Clearly Rev. Wright disagreed. Hillary at the time was the clear front runner, so the reference to her was probably based on that fact alone.

8. Many people can't handle the truth
especially of they are of the "privileged" class/

Of every speech I have heard by Rev Wright, he seemed to speak the truth and said it boldly.

I might not agree with every single thing, but I don't know of any person out there I have agreed of every thing.

Remember, this is a Veteran who is speaking truth to power.

And a great job my the person who put the words and images together. I admire the talent and work of people who can do that.

22. Exactly, but the media and politicians..
always talk to the scared and uniform who can't handle the truth, I never thought this was wrong when he said it throughout the campaign they played this tape but,you see that they never wanted to discuss if it was the truth or not.

They just throw it out and say see, here is another angry black man.All of these so called politicians and talking heads on television know what he is saying is the truth but they won't go indepth because they think the people are stupid. He didn't say anything that I have heard or known for years. Read some history people..and do some damn research. I am not talking about you annm4peace.

12. Not one word in that that I can argue with or say is false. But it's not what most white
Americans want to hear--especially from a black man.

On September 11, 2001, on the afternoon of the attacks on New York and Washington, a couple of friends said to me: "Can you believe this is happening?"

My response was "I can't believe it's taken so long."

Most of us are blind to the carnage we inflict upon the rest of the planet at our whim.

Recommend.

19. It is not anti-American...
to articulate one's deep opposition to the aggression done with his tax dollars and in his name.

27. You're wrong.
This is not filth, and it's not anti-American. Every word of it is true, although not what you and I were fed as children by the propaganda in our schools and on television. To get to the point of understanding this is difficult, and you haven't done it yet. I hope you do, someday.

How comforting it must be to simply deploy expletives instead of having to fire up your brain.

18. The real irony here is that those on the right
Always say "God bless America"...as if God approves of the wars of aggression that have plagued us for 30 years and killed millions.
The good Reverend is right, and it is the Christian right that need to repent of their ways.
