I carry the dust of a journey
that cannot be shaken away
It lives deep within me
for I breath it every day

You and I are yesterday's answers
the earth of the past comes to flesh
Eroded by time's rivers
to the shapes we now possess

Come share of my breath and my substance
and mingle our streams and our times
In bright infinite moments
our reasons are lost in our rhymes

OK, maybe not the most political of music videos, but few words epitomize so well the current past.

1. I really enjoyed listening to ELP while I was in college in the early '70s.
That was beautiful guitar work and I don't think you would hear something like that live with any of today's rock music.

2. You might be surprised
There are some really skilled young musicians out there. But no doubt about it ... ELP where technical virtuosos, masters of their instruments and often daring to the point of excess.

I like 'em still.

3. ELP, Yes, Pink Floyd.

Moody Blues, Renaissance, Gentle Giant, Focus, Weather Report, Vangelis, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Procol Harem, HH Headhunters, Jeff Beck, Ahman Bros. Many more. The early '70s were a brief, bright flash where classical, jazz, funk collided with rock and synthesizers. A fusion. A trip. Almost too much to handle.

Then, the long burn back out of orbit.

Music is always good. But, then it was ours.

8. I am a product of the '70s. Of course, I forgot SOMETHING.
:hippie: The rising crescendo of "The Lambs Lied Down on Broadway" was part of the summer of '75, along with Springstein's "Born to Run" album.

9. Right on
A seminal album, even if it led Peter Gabriel to leave the band. Although they were good for a while with Phil at the helm.

Peace,
Max

4. Thanks for uploading music.
Generally, I support DU'ers uploading nonpolitical stuff that interests them -- like music and science news. I can filter it myself.

5. It's cool, but
the increasingly pompous shows and the attitude that virtuosity was somehow a requirement is what led to punk/grunge rock. I'm not singling out this particular band - there's always room for a few bands of this type
