Because this could really mess with his diplomatic efforts. If anyone in America is funding it's probably Cheney and Halliburton. They do business there and have connections.

8. Under the Bush administration and reportedly the Obama Administration

the US has bankrolled oppostion groups. Though I am not entirely sure of the veracity this particular accustaion, there is evidence out that there that Jundollah was funded by the US.

Though they are not nice people, Cheney and Haliburton are not responsible for everything. I would certainly have to see how this makes money for Haliburton. Since Haliburton was reported to be operating openly in Iran, and making money from the Iranian government, as recently as 2005, they would unlikely be willing to crap in their own plate and loose money. Capitalism is an amoral system with the sole purpose of making money for investors and owners, and Haliburton is a capitalistic organizaion.

Also, just because we funded Jundollah doesn't mean we control everything they do. Bin Laden used to work for us, and look how well that turned out.
