Jeb has been traveling the country talking about education. He has made it clear he is very happy with the way the new administration is pushing for more testing and for more charter schools. These were his goals also, and they were the goals of Newt Gingrich and other Republicans. They are seeing their dreams come true with Arne Duncan as Secretary of Education.

This is from Morning Joe.

He actually states how pleased he is to see this administration confronting one of their core constituencies, the teachers' unions. Harold Ford, who appears to be part of the panel on Morning Joe seems to agree with Jeb. He asked if Jeb approved of the goals which demand that unions "play by a different set of rules."

I would like to say that Jeb is speaking things that are not true. Trouble is, he is right. Duncan already set up confrontations with teachers' unions and states.

Joe says to Jeb that essentially what we were hearing from Jeb in 1995 and 96 we are starting to hear from Democrats. He asks Jeb if his views will be part of the education bill next year. Jeb thinks that is true....he says that this administration's willingness to tweak the NCLB bill shows that.

Gingrich is touring the country with Arne, seeing his dreams of charter schools come to fruition.

We are now "post partisan" in education goals.

As a retired teacher, I cringed all the way through this video. I was bitter at the grin of satisfaction Jeb gave at the end. We are continuing his goals, and it breaks my heart.

4. Someone is
positioning himself for a run in 2012. You'll notice he's been in the media more lately.

I hope our country isn't stupid enough to do it, yet again.

2. moderates continue to gnaw out of the woodwork, slowly

not sure it is a trend or temporary, but if it softens the ability of Fox to make the argument that the world is caving in because of Obama, then I'm for it 100%. Besides, they can keep saying it and before long, folks will realize that all the GOP Chicken Littles are wrong.

3. Your statement....
"if it softens the ability of Fox to make the argument that the world is caving in because of Obama, then I'm for it 100%."

I am not sure of the exact intent, perhaps I am misunderstanding.

I do not consider Jeb Bush a moderate, and I hate to see our public school destroyed by our own party as Jeb smirks.

7. Madfloridian,
I have to say that is going to spell death for teaching as a profession. We tried to explain to people how the voucher movement was really a scramble by pirate companies for public funds. We will be taxed more and more to put money in their pockets and our children at their mercy. The best and brightest who have remained in teaching will now leave it.

I don't know what to say, except in the same way the W Bush team was what Scott Ritter called "the wrecking crew" for foreign policy, the Obama Dept of Ed is now the wrecking crew of public education.

The New Deal, unions, public institutions, commonwealth in its true sense, are being killed.

17. They could not bear to see an institution under public control.
And we will pay the price because Democrats and media let us down by not telling us the truth about what was happening.

12. i'm talking about moderation on attacking the President - not his issues - should have been clearer

was saying that having another prominent Republican talk about the President on an issue-based conversation instead of 'he's going to take our country to ruin' is starting to let other moderating voices come out and say similar things. I don't think he has any power or control over what Obama will do on education issues although I do think it is ironic because the more educated people are, the more likely they are to become/act Democratic and Jeb technically undermines his own base of ignorance in the GOP by trying to add charter schools, etc.

So wanted to clarify.

for schools. It is just wrong.

6. Jeb has been traveling the country....
.... promoting himself. He couldn't possibly talk about education with a straight face, after what he did in the shuffleboard state.

Lil' Jebbie and Puke Gingrich are both busy raising their media profiles right now. They wouldn't be plotting a run in 2012, would they?

Dole / Kemp 2012!

Several times, just did not save the links. Think Jeb was top of the ticket.
