5. slight( but only slight) disagreement with you about "no mincing of words"
Edited on Sun Oct-11-09 12:38 PM by abq e streeter
She still, in her position, can't just come out and say they're liars, racists, hypocrites, hate and fear-mongers etc, but it's sure as hell a huge step in the right direction to even say this much publicly. I think it's the "Grayson effect"... like one kid who finally had the guts to dive into the pool, and shouted back that "the water's fine" and more and more of the other kids are now at the very least dipping their toes in to see if it's true. Let's all hope this trend continues and grows.:fistbump:

Buzzflash has started an action site dedicated to turning off FOX News in public places.

Check out the website and the pledge at http://www.turnofffox.com

You can even get a TV-B-Gone clicker on Buzzflash that is a universal remote you can use to turn off any remote controlled TV. Handy!

21. I'm delighted that someone from the administration has finally said this. The first two
minutes of this interview were too much for me. She sounded lost and couldn't put her thoughts together. She must have said "ya know" ten times in 30 seconds.

I'm glad she came on strong at the end. Wish I could have hung in to hear it.

26. Here's a longer version of the clip
This CNN "Howie" guy is kind of an ass - interrupting her and pressing her as to whether the problem is that they (Fox) are reporting information that is 'not to the liking of the administration.'

He sounds more like he should be working for Fox News.

27. Fox masquerades as a legitimate news organization ONLY to manipulate the news & their bullshit polls
Edited on Sun Oct-11-09 06:29 PM by GreenTea
solely to benefit the republican party ideology.

Anyone who hasn't known this fact for at least 10 years is either in complete denial or are consummate idiots - As most in the media and the democratic party are....

The slimy fucking republicans know this & use (Fox news) as a tool, to their advantage by pretending it's a real news organization yet in reality it's ALL bullshit putting out slanted lies and omitted certain news stories along with their unbelievable bullshit polls that are so obviously full of shit it's amazing the rest of media and the democratic party even pays attention to them...

Yet the media & Dems do even though the only reason Fox news chief neocon republican Roger Alias functions are day to day, are to benefit his own republican party and to trash all democrats, as well as democratic ideology, policy, philosophy and agenda....

Fox news, like the republican party & the pigman Limbaugh solitary reason to exists is to increase the profits & power of the corporations over the people...That's it. Nothing more (or less)!

39. She didn't really answer his initial question.
Her answer was excellent to be sure, and the part where she caught him on his two-part question must have been embarrassing to him, but she did miss an opportunity. His initial question began,

You were quoted in Time Magazine as saying of Fox News, "It's opinion journalism masquerading as news."

Notice that he did not then ask,

"What do you mean, "opinion journalism?"

What he did ask was,

What do you mean, "masquerading?"

That's a question I might ask myself, so as to imply that "they don't really try very hard to hide it, do they?"

At that point I think she should have begun by treating the "opinion journalism" aspect as mutually obvious and then offered examples of masquerading, such as how Fox attempts to deceive its viewers with slogans like "Fair and balanced" and "We report, you decide". Then she could have continued with her examples of how Fox News delivers "opinion journalism."

(Actually, I think the term "right-wing propaganda" would have been much more to the point.)
