1. transfer v. tansfer - might fix before time is up
as we are always poking fun at freepers who can't spell, copy-pasting isn't always good titling

3. The video is from the March 5th subcommittee hearing, video is not new....
Edited on Thu Oct-08-09 05:08 PM by Tx4obama

The video is from a March 5, 2009 Financial Services subcommittee hearing on 'systemic risk'.

When posting videos that are duplicates of older videos it's a good idea to state in your post when the event originally happened so that people know that the event is not current.

5. You don't know if it's a repost when it's that old. The video forum WON'T take links already posted
but if the same video on youtube has several different links, the forum will take a different link. In other words, if I tried to post the exact same video with the exact same link, the forum tells me it has already been posted and won't let me repost. However, if I try to post the exact same video with a DIFFERENT link, I can, and there is nothing to tell me that the video has already been posted, especially if the posting goes back 6 months to archived posts.

6. But when you are at YouTube you can tell...
It only takes a moment to do a search at YouTube on the subject you are posting on.
A quick search of Alan Grayson brings up all the videos and there are many there of the hearings in January and February.

Posting re-issues of old videos is just misleading to the people that might not know better.
As DU'ers I think we should take the time to do a bit of poking around to find the facts before posting.
Just my opinion.

7. Some people may not be aware of that search feature; nor may they spend much time in the DU archives
In addition, the DU archive may not be terribly useful; you can't post to it and bring it back up if it looks interesting.

You act as if the OP broke a host of unspoken/unwritten rules. Are you more upset at the repost or that the exact date of the video was not put in the message portion of the post? I understand that an old video without a date might mislead people into thinking that the video is current. Is that your issue?

9. I don't know what you are talking about...
I never said anything about DU archives
I was talking about looking around on YouTube.com to find out if a video is actually recent or not.

And yes, my original comment was about adding some information about when an EVENT occurred so that people here on DU don't think that a 'video with a current date' on it is a new video.

:hi:

They are repackaging some of the troublesome assets into new products without much oversight.

"Washington, Oct 1 -

Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) today asked Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner to address the potential threat to the financial system posed by resecuritization of existing residential mortgage backed securities, informally referred to as ‘re-remic.’ Congressman Kucinich recently brought the matter to the attention of the Securities and Exchange Commission and uncovered that only $50 million of a $664 billion market is overseen by the SEC.

The Re-remic process takes previously issued residential mortgage backed securities and collateralized debt obligations whose value has deteriorated considerably, and repackages them into larger, more complex financial instruments in an attempt to create investment-grade products once again. Investors and analysts alike have stated concerns that re-remics could be used to hide toxic assets and manipulate capital requirements. In the letter, Kucinich called on Secretary Geithner to create a stronger regulatory framework to ensure that financial institutions are not continuing practices that led the financial system to the brink of collapse in 2008.

The full text of the letter follows: "

11. The recovery starts with the financial system?
Well I guess wall street has recovered.

Main street though still doesn't seem to be doing well. We'll see how that goes further down the road I suppose.
