3. What happened to the whole Republican party?
The Reagan mantra: "Greed is good"

How does that Kinsey Six song go?

"I wanna be in the GOP
'Cause it's all about me, me, me...."

13. They really are pretty much the Satan party at this point.
But that's all the more reason that Democrats should be fighting them tooth and nail.

(And I'm sure not seeing enough of that apart from Grayson)

24. But TEN Republican Senators did vote for it.
So is there a hope that SOME Republicans have not gone over to the crazy/stupid Palin/Bachmann axis of insanity? Frankly, I wish we had a reasonable opposition who presented intelligent objections. What scares me is one of our major parties has clearly gone INSANE!

Just couldn't bring themselves to vote for anything Democratic, even to the detriment of those that have been most heinously abused? How many are up for election this next cycle? I am with Cenk. Run those old school ads. He is right, they would.

9. What can we do to get Cenk a larger audience?
Cenk is a TREASURE for the progressive cause. Maybe once in a generation, a person who comes along who:
(a) is highly-educated (UPenn, Columbia), with a law degree--but is able to stay grounded, and takes a commonsense approach to the issues;
(b) has a genuine passion about justice and America--but balances that earnestness with a sense of humor, which is at times self-deprecating;
(c) is able to communicate forcefully and cut right to the heart of the issue--but never resorts to cheap distortions or sloganeering;
(d) is able to understand the wheeling-dealing of the ivy-leagued law-degreed privileged class and break it down in his monologues so that his listeners can see past the smoke and mirrors.

To use one of Cenk's own favorite adjectives, he is "awesome." If more Americans were listening to him, I'd have more hope that this nation will be able to correct its course.

then again he is way too progressive for the commercial media and thats why I love Cenk.

11. Agree completely
I am a fairly new watcher of the Young Turks, and in my opinion Cenk is the most intelligent, enlightened progressive I am aware of. Olbermann and Maddow aren't bad, but they are too limited because they are on a major news network. Cenk however is free to say whatever he actually believes.

Remember his interview with the youtube poster? (I just remember it happended.) They actually had a debate! And it takes smarts to be able to manage an interview like that.

15. 30 old white male republicans against victim's rights in arguing their being raped in a court
instead of an arbitrator by the company under whose employment the rape occurred?

Breathtaking.

They hopefully will be voted out - that's the kind of mistake that could make several of them lose close races.

they walk around and always have their heads stuck up their asses, or their mouths kissing the buts of corporations.

Easy to spot.

21. Cenk's ad idea pales in comparison to the GOP's ads against Max Cleland
And that's exactly why it should be implemented immediately. Not only is this factual, it's much more classy and tasteful than morphing a triple-amputee war vet's image into a known terrorist's.

22. The TEN republicans that voted YEA and MISC...
The 10 republicans that voted YEA

AK Murkowski, Lisa - FEMALE
FL LeMieux, George
IN Lugar, Richard
IA Grassley, Charles
ME Collins, Susan - FEMALE
ME Snowe, Olympia - FEMALE
OH Voinovich, George
TX Hutchison, Kay - FEMALE
UT Bennett, Robert
UT Hatch, Orrin

I am shocked that Grassley(R) voted yea.
Sen. Byrd(D) and Sen. Specter(D) did not vote. All other democrats and independents voted yea.

Women's rights: I believe this is the first time that all four of the female republican senators voted with the democrats since Obama took office. This amendment/issue is a great example of why there needs to be many more FEMALE republican senators - they apparently do a much better job standing up for the rights of women than their male counterparts

23. Seems that republicans stop at NOTHING to shrink gov...
...even if it eliminates protection from victims of violent crime, whenever it "violates the patriarchy". This nonsense was also echoed when they (ESPECIALLY Virginia Foxx) were protesting the Matthew Shepard hate crime bill.

Heck, that reminds me of the possible reason why conservatives make up all sorts of BS to justify banning same-sex marriage. Because marriage contains a tax, and taxes benefit government, so by banning SSM government remains cash strapped right?

27. Thank you
for posting this response to the deplorable actions of those 30 republicans regarding Sen. Franken's amendment. I have contacted the senator from NH (R-Gregg) who is one of the against voters on that list. I talked with two of his office's in the state and the one in DC. The two I spoke with in NH knew absolutely nothing about this whole thing, so I proceeded to inform them (both of whom were females by the way) and I received dead silence after I had explained what it was all about. I hope that it will make a difference in some way as this kind of thing needs to be heard and loudly. This senator has been voting against the people for way too long and not held accountable, it is time for that to change.

Thanks Cenk and thanks to ihavenobias for posting this.

28. If it weren't for rape....
Republicans wouldn't have sex. Just read some of the books their literati come up with. That's the reason they oppose womens reproductive rights and Democrats. God forbid that someone else in this country is having consensual sex in a consequence free environment. :hide:

Thank you Al Franken for showing them up to be the asses they are.

Never liked Ed. To me he is a phoney and sounds too much like a Liberal version of Rush.

35. That voice thing is a problem
I've been trained to respond negatively to the sound of Rush for 20 years, and it's tough to be comfortable with Ed just for that reason. I'm sure the one or two times I've been flicking channels as I drove across the states and thought I was hearing Rush make a good point, it must have been Ed. I've continued to listen to what he is saying and he's growing on me. If he had a proper Pioneer Valley voice, I'd probably already be a raving fan. Just another reason to be sad about the existence on the air of Rush.
