Listen to the fake laughter

The GOP wants us to think that the president is plotting against America with his appointment of "czars." Because of this, they want these folks to testify before Congress and be confirmed for their posts. However, they seem to forget that George W. Bush used czars all the time, and not one of those advisors had to make their case to Congress. Mike Papantonio of Air America's Ring of Fire takes on the
folks at Fox Business's Cavuto to debate the issue.

Rep. Issa- Didn't Object to Bush Czars :wtf: faux still lying,GWB had more than 13 czars?

Chris Matthews: "Bush beats Obama in czar count" - 9/17/2009

Big Number: The Bush administration had 47 czars compared to Obama's 30.

1. There are well established practices and laws about which presidential appointments . . .
Edited on Thu Oct-08-09 05:03 AM by MrModerate
require the advice and consent of Congress. To suggest that any presidential appointment that Congress happens to be interested in should be the subject of hearings is preposterous.

What's more, any Republicans considering running for president in 2012 are undoubtedly speaking to their buddies in Congress and asking them "Are you crazy? We don't want this. What happens the next time WE have the White House?"

What Obama needs to do is just stop letting anyone at the White House use the loaded term "czar" and stick to "policy advisor."
