A new film by Jonathan Shockley http://www.youtube.com/mr1001nights
Based on the book of the same name by Thomas Ferguson, a professor at UMass Boston.

I just ran across this trailer. Looks interesting. I haven't seen it yet, I plan on it over the next couple of days, but I thought I'd share.

1. I see it's available at Amazon for $15.

On edit: I'm about 15m into the video at that website, and it looks to be about 1h in length. Could that be the entire video? I hate to deprive such outfits of their much needed sales revenue. But I'm close to being tapped, so I might be saving myself $15!

2. I'm about hlfway through that video, and it looks like it'll run perhaps 10~15m over an hour.

The full screen option still yields a very nice image. Check out ~29m into it, for a telling observation by a UAW retiree. He essentially says that his health care is dependent on the profits of GM stock. That means that it's working in direct conflict with the interests of an active worker! (added on edit) So it might be "in his best interests" to see anti-worker activities take place --- eg: closing plants in the US, etc.!

Thanks for putting me on to this site! But I'll have to admit this: Although this viewpoint had been a major part of my entire adult life, at this point in the near collapse of our economy, I am still betting on Obama, as being the ONLY hope of averting an over the cliff outcome!

4. Me too
It's a very interesting film but I was too tired to go the distance last night.

I caught the UAW guys comments too. I'll probably rewatch that part tonight with a clearer head. I don't recall seeing anything too cynical last night (as far as Obama's concerned), let's see how the rest of it plays out tonight.

I can't remember what I was looking for when I came across the vid, but I knew my fellow DUers would take interest. Cheers.

3. I hear ya
I've donated $20 increments to several different places and it's adding up. I didn't check out the amazon link, I ended up donating $5 through paypal.
