18. Keith Olbermann = The Edward R. Murrow Of Our Time?

I was beginning to lose hope that there was anyone in the media who would do ANYTHING other than tow the corporate line. Keith Olbermann has restored my faith in the power of the media. Let's make sure that he's not just one lone voice in the darkness. Make all the other media lapdogs sit up and take notice. THIS is what being a journalist is SUPPOSED to be about. Can we get Keith on as a major nightly news anchor? Get rid of the vapid Katie Couric on CBS, maybe (I know Keith is under contract to NBC--but wouldn't he have been the PERFECT replacement for Dan Rather?)

then watched it again after Rachel. It was the most powerful and passionate comment that he's given so far.

I worry also about his preaching to the choir and I mentioned it to my husband, that the ones who need to see this won't see it, but he said, don't you believe it. The blue dogs will see it, will hear about it from their constituencies, the insurance companies will certainly see it, the politicians of all stripes will see it. This comment is not going to fade away -- believe it.

Olbermann as usual is awesome. I am so inspired by him on one hand, but on the other I know this is a lost cause. Our government does not have the will or possibly even the ability to take down the health insurance industry. I have little hope that ballots have enough power to speak to the money at stake.
