1. That is pretty cool... CNN is now generating it's own new stories
Well, I guess they needed to throw more wood on the fire? First of all, this was one of the stupidest performances I have seen. It is wrong on so many levels. Let's just create a new reason for the right wing blow hards to spend a week on talking about how Obama is indoctrinating our children. Haven't we heard enough of this crap already. What the hell is CNN doing?

16. Isn't this the group out of Georgia who sang at one of his inauguration parties?
Edited on Wed Oct-07-09 10:41 PM by eagertolearn
I also believe this may be a private school and they don't have to worry about politics as much. If this is the same group, they have sang about issues before. I thought they were great. It is good to have kids involved with the social issues of our country. Maybe they can help make changes that work for the people instead of a few pockets!

22. This would also be a non-issue
If the exact same thing happened in any other administration.

2. This scares me.
We don't need a Dear Leader or a Chinese style indoctrination of children.

3. Really?
What, exactly, do you find offensive in the video? I didn't see any "Dear Leader" or "Chinese indoctrination" stuff.

5. Same result.
What exactly do children of that age understand? Very little. LEAVE THEM ALONE!

6. Wondering if you actually watched the video.
Edited on Wed Oct-07-09 08:47 PM by jefferson_dem
The performers all appear in their teens. They were enthusiastically singing and dancing about health care.

Good gracious. For the life of me, I can't see what's wrong with that. Perhaps they should just stick to grinding to Mariah and Lil' Wayne...

7. I did watch the video
and it strikes me that this IS reminding me of what you'd see coming from North Korea, China, and the Soviet Union in earlier days. I see that you are too blind to see it.

9. Really? You can't see what is wrong with that?
Let me try to explain. I will type slowly to make it easier for you to understand. If I am understanding your point correctly, you are very happy that these kids decided to take up a cause that is very important to them, which is health care reform. Perhaps they are worried that they may come down with an illness and the insurance companies will not cover it? Maybe they are all concerned that that they will not be able to afford the health care deductible? I guess that you think that they all got together and decided, hey we are teenagers, but we would rather sing about health care reform and not <<insert latest artist name here>>.

All I can say is...Really? You can not see this for what it clearly is? You can not see that, after weeks of all of the Talk show hosts talking about how Obama is indocrtinating our children just by giving the typical Presidents speech to children about staying in school and studying hard. The one that every President does. They had to dig up videos that went back 7 monthts old to find any example of a child mentioning Obama's name and then spent days talking about it. What do you think that you will be hearing on the news for the next two weeks now that CNN has showcased this song and dance about Obama and health care reform.

In short, great.... you have proven that you have watched this video. Kudos to you. Now I would recommend that you also start watching the news to see exactly why this performance is such an outrage for CNN to feature. They are simply fanning the flames of this ridiculous indoctrination topic and giving us something to discuss instead of the merits of Health Care reform and real discussion.

12. Funny. Actually, I am as attuned as anyone to the latest political chatter...as it unfolds.
Edited on Wed Oct-07-09 09:27 PM by jefferson_dem
I find it refreshing that young people are turned on about things political. I see it every day.

While you may fixate with fear on how the right wing haters will twist and misconstrue wholly innocent events, I refuse to play their game.

10. Did you really say that "They were enthusiastically singing and dancing about health care reform"?
Didn't some stupidometer go off in your brain when you typed that and force you to hold down the back space key? Apparently not, but it should have.

It would have been nice if some little voice in your head spoke up and said "You know, Jefferson_dem, this may be one of the stupidest things you have said in a long tme. Maybe you should erase that sentence"

11. Wow.
With that crazy bitter attitude, it's no surprise you are so offended at kids singing and dancing.

I hope tomorrow delivers a better day your way. :hi:

13. Perhaps. Things like that just bug me (it will tommorrow also, unfortunately)
Maybe you are just one of those overly cheerful/optimistic types like Ned Flanders (Homer Simpson's next door neighbor). Maybe I have been plugged in too long lately to know exactly what the outcome of this CNN video will generate. It would be like if CNN decides to show a follow up where elementary school kids all praised Obama and how he is their savior. You might think.... "How nice... school kids singing about our president!!!". But I can tell you exactly what will be on the television and radio for the next two weeks. Essentially, it gives the talks shows an excuse to bad mouth Obama and everything he does. CNN should not be creating news, it should be reporting on it. Shame on them!

17. They understand so much at this age. Mine watched my brother die
of alcoholism at this age over a several year period and it was amazing what they understood. This has made them more compassionate about others struggles and they are so good to those who may be different in their school. Now my oldest wants to be the first woman senator from Oregon and my other daughter wants to go into history or politcs too or psychology. They want to make our country a better place (little to they know that it is hard to make changes the political route).
