2. Nelson in opposition with his state's party
The Nebraska Democratic Party State Central Committee, at a meeting in Omaha on Saturday, Oct. 3rd, voted nearly unanimously to accept a resolution in favor of the public option. It will be interesting to see whether Sen. Nelson's continued opposition to it will cost him the support of a majority of his own state's party members.

5. Nelson was first elected to the Senate with a 51% majority
Maybe he should resign since his election clearly was not "legitimate".
