He's playing to the conservatives in his state, who have never been his base of support. A nice try on Max's part, but liberals in his state will never forgive him for spurning an oppportunity to reform the health care system, and instead capitulating to the insurance industry. If Montana liberals (and there are many) sit out the next election and the seat flips to a Republican, how could that possibly be any worse than what's in there now? And if the current "bullet-proof" super-majority Democratic Senate turns out to be another tool for the status quo, thanks to the likes of these three money-grubbers and their ilk, of what value is any Democratic majority?
