THIS is how you do it. We must retain marriage in Maine - its tied int he polls now but with advertising like this and action from Dems and others that stand for equality we can make sure it stays law.

We need your help right now:

There are two ways to support this work directly - Contribute here to support airing this commercial in Maine. https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/voices4equalitymaine

And also - Contribute here to support production of more educational spots like this for California. https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/voices4equality

We feel it is important that you have a say in where your generous contributions are spent, which is why we offer the two links.

Please, share this message with friends - ask them to watch the ad, contribute and join our mailing list. This work can only have the desired effect when viewed, so we need your help to spread the word!

Thank you for all that you do,

4. I Could Have Done Without the Praying...Smells Like Pandering.
But whatever sells it to the rednecks is okay in my book.

http://www.usnews.com/articles/news/religion/2009/07/02/activists-work-to-show-gays-are-not-anti-religious.html

A Barna Group survey out last week shows that most gay Americans lead pretty robust faith lives. While 72 percent of straight American adults describe their faith as "very important" in their lives, so do 60 percent of gays and lesbians. Almost as many, 58 percent, say they've made a personal and ongoing commitment to Jesus Christ.

6. I Didn't Say It Wasn't True. I Just Said It Looked Like Pandering.
I realize that it's necessary, but I personally abhor the "gay people are just like you!" method of selling equality, which is disingenuous, because A) gay people are NOT "just like you!" and B) it leaves those gay people who are not interested in the suburban house with the white picket fence and the two point five children hung out to dry. Equality should not depend on the perception that one is a christian or a settled married couple or anything else popularly conceived as "normal". The leather daddy and the drag queen deserve their rights just as much as Johnny Sixpack and Harry Househusband.

7. I agree
everyone deserves equal rights no matter what they look like or how they chose to live their and express their lives.

I think its not pandering, and I dont believe in and Gods, because its taking their arguments and turning it around and saying look we have families as you do and also have a majority that are Christian and go to church. To claim we as a group are godless heathens is what they love to do because no one sees openly gay people in their conservative church IMO. There is a certain population that will relate and it will click with them (but Im not sure Id call that pandering when the underlying message is true).
