First of all, it is not dishonest. If you read my post, it was my suggesting that this is what he must have been thinking to come to make that statement. Whether it is a mischaracterization or not can not be stated (although you actually did). Since neither of knows the poster personally, neither of us knows his character, therefore neither of us can speak of his character. What I can say about your statement, though, is that what you consider ignorance, he considers couragous. I am probably overreacting, maybe he is just a nice guy trying to look on the bright side, but when people take something so ignorant and characterize it as couragous, it just bugs me.

Even when things are proven to cause damage they still are seldom made illegal as they are industries that make a significant of money/employement...and you can tax them. Sin Taxes (although everyone who uses those products hates them) work.

It's been pretty much proven that tobacco products cause cancer. Alchohol kills brain cells. Playing contact sports can lead to long term physical injuries. That's not hack therapy. It's also pretty much commons sense that you have control over what you do to your body. But those things also make money. Nobody makes dangerous things illegal when they make a lot of money.

Hilariously enough marijuana was made illegal because the hemp it comes from threatened another person's industry. Another person who already had a big pile of money to protect his investment.

Have a little faith in the system. The only time something is made illegal really is when it threatens someone else's (who happens to have a lot of money) money pile.
