During this morning's Fox "news" Sunday, they ran a segment responding to "the flood of viewer mail" they received regarding their "explosive interview" (more like "openly hostile" interview) with Assistant Secretary of Veteran Affairs Tammy Duckworth regarding the "Death Book" that Republicans are suggesting "steers disabled vets toward euthanasia".

They then went on to "Fact Check" Duckworth's comments. First one out of the box, the availability of the so-called "Death Book". They play a clip of Duckworth claiming the book "will not be available until 2010." They then call her a liar.

But I remembered the conversation from last week, and I remembered that she was talking about the REVISED version of the booklet (with the troublesome references omitted) as not yet available.

So I went back and looked at the video from last week. Sure enough, they selectively edited her comment to omit reference to the "revised" version.

(BTW: Duckworth is a double amputee below the knees. During today's viewer mail, a Fox supporter commended them for "holding her feet to the fire.")

8. To be fair, in the original interview, Wallace

gave her extra time trying to pull something negative they could use and she didn't have it. They had to edit it in order to twist it. And also, to be fair, he all but called her a liar right there, which I thought was a nice touch after having started the interview by calling her a hero.

9. Duckworth's a damn fine person...

but I think the bottom line here is that it serves no good purpose for any Democrat to appear on Fox News. It is harmful, because it legimitizes them as a news outlet. Democrats are brought on Fox News so as to smear them and/or other Democrats. It's just that simple. Fox has a free speech right to exist as a conservative propaganda organ, and Democrats have a stake in not propping them up.
