1. Yes, it would. That won't happen, as Mr. Moyers thinks. nt

2. Like Bill Maher said, I hope so but it is frightening to know that
we have more private contractor soldiers in Iraq than US troops. I fear that this has already become a business for the 600 corporations like Blackwater. And, they would do their best to make Profit and avoid Loss. May sanity prevail.

4. I am sorry, I didn't intend any offence. I just heard that news on Real Time with Bill Maher
last week. I think, you took it wrongly.

8. don't sweat it - you were not offensive
this is a great place to come and question. Just be prepared - questioning the administration will bring ire from the faithful.

That Blackwater deal does bring concern. Earlier in the year we were led to believe we were doing the right thing and breaking ties with that company. Now to find out we have a new $100M contract. WHAT IS GOING ON?

What is the number of private contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan - 150,000?????? And we were promised a withdrawal - at least from Iraq.

Welcome - and share your progressive views.

17. Please stop attacking new DU'ers here. Why are you trying to drive them away from DU?

If you think that anti-war progressives are not welcomed here perhaps you're visiting the wrong discussion board.

9. an oracle in our midst . . .
and I don't believe Moyers said it would happen - he said it would be a tragedy for it to happen. Quite a difference.

7. He's already involved.
Permanent War is a big part of his agenda. :patriot:

Our permanent war economy has not been challenged by Obama and the Democratic Party. They support its destructive fury because it funds them. They validate its evil assumptions because to take them on is political suicide. They repeat the narrative of fear because it keeps us dormant. They do this because they have become weaker than the corporate forces that profit from permanent war.

The hollowness of our liberal classes, such as the Democrats, empowers the moral nihilists. A state of permanent war means the inevitable death of liberalism. Dick Cheney may be palpably evil while Obama is merely weak, but to those who seek to keep us in a state of permanent war, it does not matter. They get what they want.

13. Bill is a hero and he is correct.
Obama must led us, not let us continue to drag behind the bumpers of the Corporate Cars. Obama can do this. He must do this.

15. Most people won't. It involves critically thinking and questioning the status quo.
Listening to Hannity and Beck is easier. They tell you everything the country does is great, their viewers are proud patriots and anyone who doesn't agree is evil. Bumpersticker quotes are much easier to take in.

18. I still don't get it
The majority of the sane websites on the Internet called out Beck on his crap. It even resulted in the loss of advertisers for the show. However, the show's ratings keeps on mounting. I heard Beck broke some kind of record when his viewership reached 3 millions viewers last Wednesday. What is going on?
