Republican Congressman Pete Olson (R-TX) tells the town hall about a mother who was turned away by the free market doctors for her unborn child's heart defect. She was denied by the free market doctors but persisted and was able to find a specialized doctor and got a very delicate operation and a heart transplant 17 days after he was born. Olson then claims that the public option would have denied him the needed health care and he would have died! Now this kid will have a preexisting condition which the public option would HELP!!!!

he did really good, didn't blow up at the idiot congresscritter, and said the facts! the congresscritter got very nervous - he knows he's out there selling a lemon from the insurance companies, and hoping the fools will buy it, so he can keep getting bigger savings into his family's wealth, securing their healthcare, travel, education, largess - FOR LIFE! stupid little fools, so dumb in refusing to hear the truth. hopefully some listened!

15. They're more like little children than tables.

They'll argue for the right to play in a busy street, even when you warn them of the danger, and they should be treated as children, as far as I'm concerned. Let them whine, but let the adults make the decisions. We do not need them.

I also hate his anecdote about the woman searching desperately for a physician, who would treat her baby. I'm happy for her, but why should only she find someone? What about those who weren't lucky enough or lacked the resources to find a volunteer. He celebrates this as a victory, when, in truth, it is an indictment of our inferior system. The point is that no one should have to go through what this woman did.

Universal health care now!

4. He's clueless...
Edited on Sat Aug-29-09 09:48 PM by Puzzler
... he states an example of a broken private insurance system, and then blames the government! This is insanity. How can you even begin to debate with people like this?

It's kinda like me trying to make a case against public transit by complaining (and describing) all of the bad taxi trips I'd taken!

10. "The gov. would have set up a board to deny care"?? Priv. ins. set up the board to deny care idiot
She found a doc willing to get it done...ins had nothing to do with finding the doc...the mom did....and she could have done the same thing if she was covered under a public option...all the ins does is pay the bill...so how did he get that a public option would not have paid the bill.

The "go to hell" look these naysayers gave the camera man was so condescending when he made a perfect point that not even the congressman could give a reply to and then some idiot says "the gov would have set up a board to deny care" ...which he pulled right out of his ass and the congressman says "there ya go" knowing full well this guy was full of crap.

It does no good speaking the truth to these opinionated goobers because they won't accept anything that doesn't fit into that already formed opinion.

Good on that cameraman and a few others who dared to speak the truth and not stand for that propaganda...shame on all the rest who are so willing to believe in lies.

22. Just goes to show ya what a fucked up politician will do to......
make sure the insurance companies don't have any competition. How fucked up can you get.

The story he told makes the case AGAINST private insurance companies, not for them. The woman had to search all over for a doctor because PRIVATE INSURANCE COMPANIES TURNED HER DOWN.

Pete Olsen is representative of why the GOP has been, thankfully, deep 6ed.
