1. I'm usually offended by that phrase, but in this context I wasn't.
I don't think the guy who used the phrase "Real Americans" was trying to say that only conservatives who live is small towns are "Real Americans."

I think he meant unscreened people asking unscreened questions, instead of pre-selected people asking pre-selected questions.

6. I called my congressman Monday afternoon again, and
I was told that I was the only caller that they had received that was interested in getting the public option. I also read over at the Daily Kos that someone else was told the same thing when they called their congressman's office.

How can this be if everyone claim to be soooo upset about loosing that option? We sit here and complain what the President (and/or the congress) is not doing or that he has caved etc. and the only thing people do on their computers is complain to one another.

I receive all kind of spam mail from republicans and their organizations about what reinforcements (lies) that they want done or spread, sometimes 7-12 emails a day from them. Now I see why their little drones are so well versed on the talking points.

I see now that America is a visual country and if we can't show them the numbers that they saw when Obama was running for the presidency and all the tears they saw of supporters there, they just won't believe many want that public option.

We need to be more motivated...we need to let the people *see* our actions and what we need and want.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/8/17/768242/-Its-the... .

btw: sorry for blowing off some steam here, please forgive me if I've hurt anyones feelings.

7. No need to apologize, that's a perfeclty valid concern.
Have you thought about starting a thread about it in General Discussion? Your concerns and the Kos link really deserve to be recommended.

Welcome to DU! :hi:

their boss make sure they know where job center is, of course making sure they give names before doing anything hasty some folks look similar. Employing someone like that can't be good for business. If they want to be punks about something so serious they can go live under a bridge, all out of patients here because health reform is vital for every business.

10. Notice how a fat man...
... is protesting against health care reform?
Maybe he is afraid a "fat panel" will force him to put down the donuts?
The "fat American" in the white shirt is part of the reason why health care costs are so high in this country.

11. You missed the whole point
didn't you? The reason health care costs so much in this country is the billions in profit the insurance companies drain from the health care system - it's not fat people or sick people. Profit from insurance companies, if put into the health care system, would enable everyone to have the best health care at a reasonable (i.e., cheaper) cost. Maybe some of those fat people could get help then BEFORE they become unhealthy because of their weight. I'm certain most of them cannot get counseling and nutritional help from their insurance companies, if they even have one.

14. What if the "fat man" agreed with you about health care?

...which plenty of us "fat men" do. Be careful with your generalizations please. They only distract from the issue.

15. I don't understand: "Hands off my healthcare?"
What does that mean? Single payer is for those without healthcare. How is it interpreted to mean their healthcare? If they have healthcare, then there's no need for them to go with the public option. Am I missing something here?
