Republicans have two narratives: they will malign any given Democrat as a thug or a wimp. By alleging thuggery, they often maneuver Democrats into acting like wimps so as to be thought of as nice. But once the wimp label is affixed to you, there's no recovering and you lose the race (e.g. McGovern, Carter, Mondale, Dukakis, Kerry) or issue. So it behooves us to fight, and denounce hcr opponents as the traitors they are--betraying fellow citizens for big pharma and big insurance. I strongly support Nancy Pelosi for showing great fighting spirit with her characterization of healthers as "un-American." That is part of why conservatives hate Pelosi--because she's a fighter. They'd love to have a prissy, wimpy, whiny bleedingheart Speaker to run their campaigns against.
