1. Chris and Cynthia make fools of themselves
From the video:
CHRIS MATTHEWS: Put 100 of these people in a room. Strap them into gurneys. Inject them with sodium pentathol. How many of them would say "I don't like the idea of having a black president"? What percentage?

CYNTHIA TUCKER: Oh, I'm just guessing. This is just off the cuff. I think 45 to 65% of the people who appear at these groups are people who will never be comfortable with the idea of a black president.

Any reasonably competent reporter would have answered, "Chris, that was the most inane, moronic, race-baiting question I have ever heard, and I will not dignify it with a response."

7. Not so sure
the question was inane or moronic but without a doubt your response is.

Race baiting? Please, it's a fact that these fools are nothing but racist pigs who will never accept the fact that a black man is running our country.

12. Deja vu
"...it's a fact that these fools are nothing but racist pigs"
I think this makes the same mistake Republicans made when referring to anyone who opposed the Iraq war as unpatriotic and anti-american. Labeling those who disagree with Obama's proposals as racist just puts off the needed debate on the particulars of Health Care legislation. Sadly, the technique seems to work pretty well on both sides to rally the troops.

14. alright. let's just say "most" are racist and that is what is triggering
these loud protests--they don't want to listen/hear what a black president has to say so they shout down his ideas at the town halls

2. Why the fuck does Matthews keep trashing ACORN
Edited on Sat Aug-08-09 04:22 PM by Chakab
like that? When has ACORN ever sent out angry mobs to shut down civil political discourse? Am I missing something? Why is he still regurgitating the propaganda that the Republicans trotted out during the general election?

5. He can and is being
manipulated. During the 1990s he was as rabid anti-Clintonite as anyone.

11. I don't know that
he is paid off. But, sometimes he becomes obsessed with an issue, like Acorn, that is out of proportion to his usual diatribe. This is very suspicious. Some RWer has his ear on Acorn for certain. And if his turnabout on Clinton is any example, you soon might find Chris Mathews a very unpleasant TV personality.

13. Because he's an opportunist and *not* on our side.
Really, he has been a water-carrier for the Republicans until november 2006. Then he smelled the changing mood of the country, so in order to not lose the audience, he started shifting to the 'left'.
