11. This is what bothers me about ALL sin taxes
I remember back in the late '90s, when we first started hearing about a budget surplus, much was said about a lot of it coming from the tobacco settlement, way back then. I remember thinking, when I heard that, "This can't last."

Truth is, I couldn't say how much credit really goes to the settlement for the surplus, but I'm generally uncomfortable with the legalize and tax "solution". It's a gesture of surrender, albeit in a battle that, perhaps, we couldn't win. The real problem, though, comes when the state begins to rely on such revenues. Ostensibly, these taxes are meant to limit, if not reduce the "sins" being taxed, yet the state now has the incentive to enourage them instead. Bad enough to go down that road, but to do so while still paying lip service to the original moral justification? Personally, I don't think you could get a government more openly corrupt without your pols handing out menus.

All this is not to say I'm opposed to legalizing and taxing marijuana. I just wouldn't recommend depending on the revenue.

That would be a Sin Tax Error.

2. Bet It Would Be More Profitable Than Something Like Say... A LOTTERY!!!
A lot of people think growing their own is another option, but that's MUCH TOO DANGEROUS!!

But TYT, makes a lot of sense. Not that down here where I live the concept would EVER FLY!!
