descript: Excerpt of Chicago Sun-Times Lynn Sweet, who raised a question about Henry Louis Gates to President Obama - who said Cambridge Sgt. James Crowley "acted stupidly" by arresting Gates "I was surprised he used that 'stupidly' phrase," Sweet says. "You can be judgemental without using that type of language." She adds that she "got a lot of flak" from readers for not asking a healthcare question at the press conference, and denied that she was "a plant". Chris Matthews hosts.

2. She is a right wing hero who has found her 15 minutes
Claims to be a friend of the President and then pulls that shit.

That question was designed to just what it did, divert the talk from Health Insurance Reform.

And as usual, DU falls right into that trap and Health Insurance Reform is on a back burner while we all flame each other over out views one way or the other on the Professor Gates incident.

5. Would the same question have been asked at a Bush presser? Ask yourself that.
No.
Because the president is black (SURPRISE!) he is asked about an incident that wouldn't have even made the national news if he wasn't president.
It's all "racist" in some way or another.
To say "stupidly" ... who gives a crap? It's true. And to avoid the answer in order to appear "politically correct" would have been bogus, too.

Eye on the ball: HEALTH CARE LEGISLATION, please.

Great NYT editorial about this today (Friday, July 24).
