I do not think this was a mistake. John Conyers has been very criticial of this administration. In addition, recently Conyers announced that he had planed to suponeoa some other administration figures. I think he also recently came out in support of impeachment of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. I contend Fox News is hoping that its audience is just stupid enough to not know the difference between William Jefferson and John Conyers. Seeing John Conyers's picture with William Jefferson's name will make Fox News watchers think that John Conyers, the guy going after Bush and his administration is being indicted. This will make Fox News viewers say "see that Democrat going after President Bush is a big hypocrite because he was breaking the law while he was trying to get President Bush impeached."

18. alright, DAMMIT this is getting beyond acceptable
Obama needs to attack them over this and say how cowardly it is they "mistakenly" put a very honorable black Congressman in the place of one who is indicted for dirty dealings, and then to put CONG! my God, help us... why didn't they just go ahead and be totally obvious and put a K instead of the C... who puts Cong instead of Rep.?????

I really hope this gets brought up with all their other 'mistakes'...

27. Well, it's simple, really...
On FauxNews, if you're a Republican, you get "Rep." since you're a Representative.
If not, you get "Cong" since you're just a Congressman.

I mean, they certainly don't want to put "Rep." before a Dem...their low-IQ viewers might think it stands for *gasp* Republican!

14. Fox has editors, and no, this was no mistake
And yes, they are hoping their viewers are stupid enough, not to
know the difference, and the sad thing is, they are probably correct.

The truth hasn't provided Fox with enough material to their liking
for quite a while, now. To them, this just means "use something
else, then." The "News" part of their name is a gross violation
of the Truth in Advertising law, but not much else. It would be
ironic if, after all the complaints progressives have had about
this propaganda station, they were finally brought down by
a successful suit by Consumers Union.

21. I just heard a guy on my local talk station say that Barrack Obama is a Muslim
These people are FOX-affiliated, and apparently never saw the CNN investigation of the madrassa story. There is not enough critical thinking anywhere on the political spectrum, but the blind acceptance of propaganda by these yokels is maddening. This is why people supported the War in Iraq: they get their news from Rupert Murdoch's prolefeed channel.

26. I saw this on TPM yesterday
I think Fox is pretty clueless on reporting but I think they actually did this one on purpose. They want people to think Conyers is a crook. This is bait and switch and it's not very subtle either.

36. sure, he can sue. Can he win? He's a public figure and would have to prove
actual malice.. fux can say "oops our bad..." I think they needs to be snatched up for letting it ride and not broadcasting a correction, but to whether that would pass muster for actual malice is hard to say.

fux is not interested in showing black people in a positive light because would turn off their viewer base, which are white christian males predominately, who need to believe all black people are bad, want to rape their wives and daughters, take their jobs and move into their neighborhoods. That is a fact about fuxnoise.

34. What do you expect, the lead story on their web site today is "Diana Photo Furor"
If you look really, really hard, you can find something small on their web site about Libby.

They never make this "mistake" involving Republicans, do they? Yet, they are constantly doing this to Dems.

They report. I've decided. They suck.

41. Lemme guess...
Roger Ailes' (or his successor's) defense is going to be:

"Well shit, they all look alike anyway!"

Just when I think that Faux can't disgust me anymore, I'm flabbergasted yet again. I need to treat Faux like a virulent allergy: Avoid at all costs, under penalty of immediate death. Or at the very least, under immediate penalty of my head exploding...

How is it again that Janet Jackson's tit can cause such a stir, but Faux is allowed to slander with impunity? And yes, I know about the FCC's purview, and broadcast licenses, and so forth, but FUCK! There must be some Non-Civil (I.E. CRIMINAL) penalty for wilfully lying to an audience, isn't there?

Never mind... I already know the answer to my query.

I just thought of a new, and eminently appropriate signature line: Every day in this country makes me hate it more and more.

42. Conyers is great -- Fox is for racist idiots
Sadly, these attacks do hurt and harm people and I've seen a few clips of Fox News where they were making purposeful efforts to do harm.

There's really something wrong with these people--
and, yes, they do like their little name games --

Sent a few e-mails and hope others will do the same.
