1. Great Ad!!! You cannot get any pithier than that in 38 seconds. Perfect.
My only question is why is he uninsured if he has the money to put together an ad like that? Or did he just produce it for the Health Lobby?

Recommend.

10. Do we know that this ad will air on any television stations?
If this is a web only ad then the cost to produce something like this would be very minimal to nonexistent, and considering that almost all television ads are :30 seconds and this one goes :38 that would lead me to believe that this ad is meant to be web only.

14. That's too bad. I'm guessing that they could chop 8 seconds and be golden.

16. Your are kidding right? Why is he uninsured?
It is called "pre-existing conditions."

I searched high and low for an insurer back in the day when I had enough money to spend on such. I was willing (though unhappy) to fork out whatever it took. Got quotes of $ 700 a mONTH for myself - a healthy active 47 year old woman.

No one wanted me. I still had my uterus - that was one thing against me.

Had a back injury dating back to the 1970's.

There was some company out there that would have insured me for the $ 700 a month - but they would have excluded my reproductive organs, breasts, back and skin!

Like a friend said, "Sounds like they are suggesting you get dental insurance!"

20. Stunning.
My employer pays $130/month for my insurance, which is technically taxes on my decidedly average salary, and it includes the insurance costs of all those unemployed and elderly that don't pay any insurance (including my future children for whom I will not be charged).

Anyone asking about my "preexisting conditions" would be met by my fist and some choice words, and would likely get slapped about by the cops as well, if he decided to call them afterwards.

What I get in return is coverage for everything but elective cosmetic surgery. And I mean everything, including dental, spa physiotherapy for serious injuries, and compensation for time off work.

Our doctors don't drive $100 000 cars, however, and our insurance companies are just companies doing paperwork, not pots of gold.

I figure if you ever have a medical problem, do some pro bono work in Europe, and you'll surely be covered by a local healthcare plan. :)

21. Yep....
When you have a pre-existing condition, very often the insurance companies don't want to
insure you for anything, even the items that are unrelated to your condition.

Imagine having had a mastectomy two years ago and being told that they won't insure you for slipping and breaking your leg.
Or, because you had skin cancer, they won't insure you for appendicitis.

This happens all the time.

4. watch out for the "how dare he admit to being uninsured?" -- "irresponsible!" attacks ---
Effective ad. The "uninsured father" bit is sure to be ripped and consequently the ad will be dismissed. Sad the way things work these days.

9. Disgruntled citizen!
He's just mad because he lost his insurance. Why doesn't he just work harder instead of complaining about the best health care system in the world? Why does he hate America?

:eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes:

And, in case it's necessary: :sarcasm:

But you know you can hear Hannity following this kind of carefully thought-out, well-researched line of reasoning. (Oh, wait, :sarcasm: again. )

11. Oh, kick their greedy asses, Mr. Lee Stranahan!!!
I acquired my insurance licenses (health, life, annuity, and variable annuity) a long time ago. As somebody who has sold health insurance, I can tell you that the man's words are Truth.

This certainly IS no bigger chunk of overhead cost in health insurance than the health insurance industry itself.

Bravo.

As a former health care giver and after seeing what is deemed, defended and supported as "the acceptable standards of health care" in Tennessee and Virginia I support public option. http://www.wisecountyissues.com/?p=62 Clearly profit care comes ahead of patient care.
