3. I beleive it's when the auditors shut down the entire banking system
And then they do a detailed audit of the assets held by the bank. If the bank is sound, then it is allowed to reopen. If not, it is repaired or shut down for good.

At this point, I believe it is the only way to get people to have even a tiny amount of trust in the banking system.

As far as I'm concerned, the entire economy is a fraud, and I'm actively avoiding it in the traditional sense, such as credit driven consumption, bank deposits, loans of any sort, or working for a wage that requires me to fill out a W-4 or has any witholding attached to it. This is the only way I see that I can make a bit of difference, since the whole system is manipulated by a small group of powerful men, happy to continue the fraud until the whole system collapses. As far as taxes go, I am definately not in the Tea Party crowd, but after much study of the Tax Code lately, something is definately fishy in the IRS. I challenge anyone to read title 26 and claim they can comprehend it, let alone interpret it. It is not written in a way that is understandable for the common man. The complexity invites speculation and alternate interpretation of the code depending upon ones motives.

Secondly, I no longer see representation associated with the tax burden imposed. The taxation system has evolved into this given agenda that it not subject to any accountability of statement of accounts. Why is it that we can go to jail if we make an error on the 1040 form, which gives the Goverment a very close look at hour our money works for us during the year, yet, they are unable to audit Fort Knox, and present a detailed account of how our tax money was spent?

A collapsing economy is not the end of the world. The laws of Nature don't change because some bank fails. The only thing that fails are the structures that depend on the perception of money to function. Since paper money is the Ghost of real wealth, it shouldn't have so much control as to whether people have enough food or water. People don't have a choice in the matter, they must eat and drink or they die.

It is not in the best interest of a society to allow it's own people to starve to death, but when everything is driven by money, it can be accomplished quite easily.

Everyone should have a cache of drinking water, soap, salt, and some hand tools like an axe and a shovel in case vital systems are disrupted.

7. Though now that I think about it,
An axe is one of the tools that I find myself wishing I had more often than any other. In a pinch, one can macguiver a replacment for a lot of things, but I haven't been able to think around not having an axe or a hatchet. I'll have to stop by the camping goods store and pick myself up one of those this summer sometime.

12. You forgot a cache of weapons and ammo, but other than that, it was a thought-provoking post.
Thanks, Grinchie.

5. Catherine Austin Fitts is great.
Good to see her on D.U.'s front page. I sometimes forget to go to Scoop (http://www.scoop.co.nz) to get the latest, but the whole body of her writing is something many, many more people should get to know.

www.scoop.co.nz/stories/HL0202/S00054.htm

Part One of the "Narco-Dollars for Dummies" series, which helps to explain why no progress ever gets made in that valiant 'war on drugs.' All of which is related to who gets to keep what sort of ill-gotten gains, and everything else that goes on, in the larger, "unofficial, off-the-books" economy.

...Tried to follow your link to press TV but it didn't work. I'll see if I can google it.

8. Is the Goldman-Sachs network holding us hostage with the help of
all the Presidents from and including Reagan to Jr? or Obama? We get to move around and do what we think is normal and then find out nothing is normal and our entire financial structure is a theft for control of us through poverty by robbing us blind?

10. I would rephrase that to read:
"Wall Street holds us hostage and presidents are powerless to stop it." It goes beyond just GS, however GS is a, if not the, major player. Their influence penetrates all branches of government, including judicial. FWIW, Geithner is another GS alumni, so expect the transfer of wealth to GS to continue. Actually it has, look at the AIG bailout.

about the violence used against those who are blowing the whistle on these criminals.

Too late to recommend.
