Say say say what you want about what happened to the guy in later years, but this video is still a goddamn masterpiece.

RIP Michael :evilfrown:

3. Well, if you accept the premise that everything is politics,
this ground-breaking video qualifies. It had far-reaching cultural impact, it helped make MTV what it was for the next decade, until they curiously stopped the 'M', and moved Jackson from being just another singer into being a singular artist who even played the Reagan White House in '84. The REAGAN White House. They didn't even make him use the back door.

So I'm OK with it.

4. My one connection to Jacko & Thriller... I was directed by John Landis in "Coming to America"
Edited on Thu Jun-25-09 07:44 PM by demodonkey

Not sure how many degrees of separation this makes, but yes I was a SAG extra in "Coming to America" in the scene where Eddie and Arsenio walk around the front of McDowells. I am sitting in the window with a child, wearing a red coat and eating burgers.

4 days of much-appreciated Screen Actors Guild scale pay for that scene.

Landis was very nice and had a good sense of humor. Eddie Murphy seemed kind of sad when the cameras weren't rolling. Never met Michael Jackson of course.
