4. He's always been an ass
He got out of Congress because he knew he'd be defeated in 2008. His red district in No. Va. is now solid blue.

5. Mr. Warmth.
What a jerk. She listed all the things she's doing to manage her illness and he rattled them back at her then said go find a better job at a bigger company. Good Lord. We only know what she told us about her condition, but he says "late onset diabetes" as if she brought it on herself. That is not always the case.

6. Who would I call? He's a FORMER Rep. Geez!!..
He wishes he could retire at 62? He's already retired. Someone tell me how much pension he would be getting for the # of years he spent in the Congress.

That poor woman sounds like she's 50-60ish. How the hell does he think she can get a job with a MAJOE corporation at her age in THIS economy?

He should be tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail. :argh:

Too good for the son-of-a-bitch. But he "won a prize" for his county government position. These guys are so lost and to think their cheering squad is screaming to "privatize" SS even as, he reminds us, the 401-K's are down.

I suppose their next plan will be to hand out guns so people can self-euthanize.

7. It is becoming clearer that until these jokers lose their health benefit we will get nothing.
He misses the point completely that when the insurance companies hold all of the cards we are powerless. This *ss needs to lose his benefits today!!

10. doesnt this asshat get insurance for life once he serves a single term?
thats a hell of a plan.

Maybe he should mandate that all businesses give free insurance for life after
one year of employment.

11. I think more the opposite will be the only thing
to get our reps attention...

Remove THEIR insurance and make them have to go out and get their own...

No free ride after they've left office either. It's so easy to say 'good luck' when you don't have to rely on it yourself.

12. "Get a job with a large company that has a health care plan ...
... and I don't think they will be able to reject you." (Quoting from memory.)

Group plans used to take everyone in a group, back in the Dark Ages. They don't do that now. They enroll everyone, unlesss they have major health issues, such as cancer, but they put waivers of up to two years on treatment for any pre-existing condition, and permanent waivers on some conditions.

I'll lay you odds that a majority of our congressional representatives are as ignorant as this guy with regard to what the average citizen actually faces -- and what the insurance companies are actually doing. It doesn't affect them, so they don't bother paying much attention.

Single payer is the way to go. Short of that, at least a really reasonable public option and less power for insurance companies.

18. Yes. Work your ass off 8 to 5, then go to your second job so you can ...
... buy Top Ramen and pay the rent, and the plan for your health is that when you don't have any left, you can retire early with no pension.

But this is the Ownership Society, so own it, baby!

14. Key quote, to me, was Davis telling her to hope for "government plan"
What I found especially striking (aside from the obvious callousness of the ~too bad about your retirement goals~ comment) was that Davis emphasized her two hopes as being either a "government plan" or "mandated private coverage" coming out of the reform effort -- both of which are opposed by Republicans.

19. oh yeah, it was
He thought he was going to get a softball from a right-winger (caller's setup sounded like a Republican might think its right wing), and then he just unloads on that Republican jackass. Good stuff.
