MSNBC Hardball w/ CHRIS MATTHEW - June 10, 2009: Joan Walsh clobbers Right-Wing violent extremist chatter. Matthews reads quotes from James W. Von Brunn's ex-wife.

MATTHEWS: "She describes him as an abusive alcoholic whose hatred against Jews and Blacks ate him alive like a cancer. It was all he would talk about, she said."

WALSH: "I don't think you can deny that there is a rising climate of right-wing hate, a lot of it directed at Obama. You and I go way back to the beginning of the campaign and the level of craziness... this guy Von Brunn, he was one of the birthers, he didn't believe in Obama's birth certificate, he was constantly online agitating about that. There is a very disturbing and disturbed element of discourse. And I would throw in Rush Limbaugh, not blaming him, but when you say that our President is more dangerous than al Qaeda, you've gone off into crazy nutjob land. You are off-the-charts crazy, and you are whipping people up."

WALSH: Chris, can I make a point about the DHS report that I think is relevant... It also says the single biggest danger in their view are lone wolves and that looks prescient today, too. But if you look back at the way Janet Napolitano - who didn't even write it, it was commissioned by the Bush White House - if you look back at the way she was vilified, at Rush Limbaugh, and Michelle Malkin, and that whole right-wing echo chamber, acting as though it was now open season on conservatives, they have this incredible capacity to be shrill, to polarize - and I don't know what happened to that report. It got shelved until today."

Harley dealership sign strikes up controversy

http://www.watertowndailytimes.com/article/20090610/NEWS03/306109924

ADAMS CENTER — A political sign at the Iron Block Harley-Davidson dealership is drawing controversy after a college professor lodged complaints with Harley-Davidson and the Greater Watertown-North Country Chamber of Commerce over what he called a message with "religiously bigoted implications."

In his e-mail to the chamber Saturday, Khuram Hussain, Syracuse, said he took offense to a message he saw scrolling across the dealership's digital sign Friday evening, reading, "Obama is Not a Christian! He is a Muslim!!!"
.......

Mr. Hussain said Tuesday he also had contacted the national Harley-Davidson company over the sign.

"I don't want a 10-year-old Muslim kid driving up <Rt.> 81 to see that sign and feel any less American than someone of a different creed," he said.

On Tuesday, the sign displayed a somewhat different message than the one Mr. Hussain said he saw. It read: "Obama are you kidding? We're not Muslim. You are not Christian!!"

The message seemingly referred to President Barack Obama's comment to a French television reporter in advance of his Middle East trip that, "if you actually took the number of Muslim Americans, we'd be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world. ... And so there's got to be a better dialogue and a better understanding between the two peoples."

Erik J. Dunk, the motorcycle dealership's owner, said Tuesday that the message had not changed. And, he said, he meant no insult to Muslims by the one displayed Tuesday — although he called Mr. Hussain a "typical weenie liberal" for taking offense. Mr. Hussain is Muslim.

9. They are crazy nutjobs, & it's scary!
I remember when Clinton was president and righties went ape -- some were crazy, others -- nutjobs. But at least they were just one or the other, so it was manageable. But now they're both -- crazy nutjobs!

So do a lot of others.

Remember how the "militias" were praised and that evil Janet Reno was gonna come get you? Look at what she did to those innocent, yet weapons stock piling, Branch Dividians! Poor Elias Gonzales! The Black Helicopters were gonna come get you at exactly 12:01 AM Jan. 01, 2000! Y2K! Y2K! Clean and load your rifle!

Do they think, after dumbfuck Timothy McVeigh killed children in a day care center, that all this is going to work again? After these Right Wingers got their way for 8 years and no one feels any better, most feel worse, that they're gonna have the support they did in the 90's? Clinton didn't seem so bad after a few years of Bush. All that "America Under Siege" crap from Rush during the Clinton years really rings hollow now but for the few anointed.

Dr. Tiller's murder seems like a victory for RW loonies now, but I'll bet in the long run, these nut jobs have gotten everyone's attention a little too much.

Let's hope so.

And I love how every time the Republicans raise a stink about something, like that report they forced into suppression, they get proven STILL completely wrong about everything, just like for the last 8 years. Of course these mistakes are deadly and dangerous. Can there be any other conclusion than to just ignore the Right Wing and do what you know you should do?

13. These right wingers are IGNORANT, often STUPID, PARANOID, FEAR-FILLED COWARD WHACK JOBS.
Edited on Thu Jun-11-09 05:00 AM by RBInMaine
Fear and ignorance, fear and ignorance. It's as old as the nation, as old as humanity. They are actually insecure cowards at heart. The opportunity here is to continue to call them out on it, condemn it, FIGHT BACK (rhetorically, in the media, through legal demonstration, law enforcement, etc. is what I mean, not literally), and stick it like glue to the "conservative movement" and their Republican policy allies in government. The opportunity here is to destroy all credibility and electability of the right wing Republican Party for generations.

15. Yes, the whack job, nut cases
are still out there. During the campaign right before the November election a local business (a pawn shop that deals mostly in guns) had on his BIG lighted sign right by a main road: McCain, an AMERICAN name we can be proud of. Welllll, a few democrats that also supported his "establishment" kindly informed that owner that they would be taking their hunting club and doing business elsewhere. the next day the sign was changed. Hit em where it hurts, right in their damn wallets.
