What's up with the bowing. Is it just to look more - I don't even know how to end that question. Was Brian Williams told to bow to Obama. It looks forced and not even natural. I don't like it too much but I do not really know the why and whatevers about it.

Anyone want to enlighten me about this? Thanks in advance.

6. It looked a little more than that.
Obama does a simple head nod, Williams seems to go a little farther.

I don't know if its worth looking too deeply into, but it is kinda funny.

7. I don't think so.
Do it myself all the time.

Now if he clicked his heels together at the same time, you might have cause to worry.

9. How about a curtsey and a twirl?
Oh, Brian! You are ever so charming.

4. It's a formal nod of the head to the Head of State
it's proper protocol.

5. The half-bow looked natural, as though it revealed Brian's inner respect for Obama's character.
Having watched Brian's coverage of Bush after Katrina, I would imagine that the comparison of Obama & the boy king would cause Brian to savor the difference between the two administrations.

I didn't watch the first part of the White House special, but I've read about how engaging this administration was shown to be.

8. You call a "nod" a bow? I think you need a dictionary.
Or lessons. Here ya go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXxArFuoLvI

That's bowing. What Williams did was 'nod.'

10. It was a lame manuever...
Probably out of confusion and/or nervousness. I found it really awkward too, but hey, who am I to criticize. I'm sure I've done something goofy/odd in my life when I wasn't sure of protocol.

13. That's what I thought. It was an awkward gesture...he probably
didn't even realize at the time he was doing it. It looked to me like he was kind of smitten with Obama.

If those on the right are recognising his sage leadership it would more say to me that President Obama is achieving to some level unity. And if nothing else happens that's a good thing for everyone.

18. How is that even remotely a bow?
Brian Williams awkwardly moved backwards from Obama and in the process tilted his head slightly. How the hell is this a bow?
