2. It's mostly Tweety shouting and screaming and foaming at the mouth
but it's nice for McC. to get some props for their reporting.

5. You know, I saw this on tv yesterday & thought the same thing as I watched.
As I watched again, though, Matthews' ability to speak rapidly allowed him to add valuable context to the subject for those viewers who may not have followed this as closely as we have.

These reporters' admirable work could have been served much better with the entire "Hardball" hour of discussion -- especially given the too-frequent appearances of Shooter/daughter on the airwaves to spout their lies, which is incomprehensible in itself.

7. I actually had the same experience
I made that comment above after having watched it once. The second time I watched, Matthews was much easier to take, and he actually did let the reporters speak and make their points.

I wonder why my (our) reaction was so different the second time?

9. I think it's because he's been inconsistent for years with what we've seen as black & white, so we

tend to be wary -- tuning in because he's come around to seeing what we see, yet not listening closely when he speaks because we've previously been used to his positive spin on dead-wrong policymakers & stories in order to make the Repukes look more acceptable than they actually are. When it comes to right vs. wrong, we don't appreciate spin.

6. They were reporting the facts prior to the invasion of Iraq.
The McClatchy reporters were publishing the fact that the aluminum tubes were not suitable for the use of the concentration of nuclear material. Their reports were completely ignored by all the other major news sources. Let's admit it that we were outright lied to by the Bush-Cheney administration. They major news media completely ignored the fact that the administration was saturated with PNAC neo-cons who had published their determined intent to invade Iraq. When I think about the entire subject I get sick to my stomach. The facts were there and the Fourth Estate failed the American people. I wouldn't give them the sweat off my balls if they were dying of thirst.

4. I liked Stroebel's comment: "Cheney isn't at war with us; he's at war with the facts."
Shooter thinks that if he repeats the lies over & over, the public will believe it. Could have been possible in a pre-google world, but the facts are well documented on the internets.

8. Well that's because its true
http://scienceblogs.com/mixingmemory/2007/09/the_truth_effect_and_other_pro.php

repeating a lie DOES make it seem more truthful. The Neo-Cons have known this and used it as part of their arsenal from day 1.
Cheney won't convince anyone here in DU. This time around for Dick, I think his goal is not to win over any new converts, it is just to solidify these "truths" for the stooopid FAUX News watching base.

10. What I can't wrap my mind around is the gall & complacence it must take for the Repukes
to speak these lies on the tv without any regard or worry about the millions of people who do know they're out-&-out lying.

They've set a new standard of sleaziness. I don't ever recall anything so obviously low or sleazy as this attitude from an administration, & I was old enough to comprehend the seriousness of Nixon's wrongdoing.

11. That really was a great segment...
...and I have to say, it's a guilty pleasure to listen to Matthews mis-pronounce Cheney's name as "Cheeney" -- I'll be it grates on the old bastard, heh.

Anyway, it was truly a thing of beauty to have simple facts brought out to expose Cheney's many lies, and to remind people of what really happened, including Cheney's office spearheading the outing of a CIA agent, as well as pressuring them to make connections that simply weren't there -- and now, he wants to pretend he's the best friend the CIA ever had. I suppose in a way there is some truth to it, though; it seems to me, as I have seen many others here say, that there are two streams in the CIA, one is honorable people trying to do their best to protect the country, and the other is people with a darker agenda. That latter stream can be traced IMO directly to George Herbert Walker Bush.

Ah well, the old K & R...
