1. Wow

If this isn't some quasi cover of Devo's Gut Feeling/Slap Your Mammy they are so going to get sued. Same chord progression same overall feel and even some of the same lyrics. Pathetic, unless they are saying it is a cover. I have never heard a more blatant rip off of a song in my life. I am interested in seeing the song writing credits on the album. If they aren't crediting Mark Mothersbaugh they are done for.

3. I found out that the Pearl Jam song is called The Fixer
so it is not a cover. What balls they have.

11. FWIW
You are wrong on the title. The song played on Conan was "Get Some".

12. Well if it isn't called Gut Feeling/Slap Your Mammy
they ripped it off Devo and should feel shame.

5. Didn't want to believe it
I have to admit, the two songs are incredibly similar. However, I will not jump to the conclusion that PJ blatantly plagiarized the Devo song. Let's wait and see what the credits say before we start talking about lawsuits.

9. Well
They may do what Coldplay did with the Kraftwerk song and credit them as co-writers, or what R.E.M. did with Leonard Cohen and do the same thing. Either way it is very telling that these bloated tired arena rock bands steal better songs from other artists and say that they are their own.

6. Wow indeed
who knew Devo followed up that joke song with a career?

Sorry had to play contrarian there.

I am not a musician so I just have to go with the "it rocks" comment.

BTW Devo should be so lucky to have Pearl Jam mentioned in the same paragraph as them

8. Hilarious
Devo were completely original and had tons of great songs. Pearl Jam should be so lucky as to have written anything as great as "Uncontrolable Urge", "Come Back Jonee" or "Mongoloid". Warmed over Bachman Turner Overdrive songs repackaged for the "alternative generation" is as tired as Pearl Jam appear to be in this clip. Obviously they agree with me or they wouldn't have stolen a Devo song wholesale, and yes I am a musician.

7. I'm a big PJ fan but this performance was sub-par.
I was really looking forward to the show for two reasons and they are that I have been watching Conan for years and I think he is awesome. I definitely wasn't going to miss the first Tonight Show he hosted. The second reason was that PJ was performing a song off their new album. Well I found myself with mixed feelings. Conan was awesome. PJ was not. This song doesn't have the PJ feel and Eddie sounded really rusty. There is also the fact that the guitars were not right at the beginning. The whole thing came off messy. Oh well. Better luck next time.

On another note, at some point last year I gave up watching Conan and chose to watch Craig Ferguson instead because Craig simply has the best monologue on television. Now I don't have to choose (though I could have used the DVR to catch Conan before.) The order to watch is clear. Watch Conan and then switch over and watch Craig. Letterman has gotten boring most of the time and Jimmy Fallon looks about as out of place as could be possible. Fallon doesn't look comfortable on the show and I can't watch it. I think Carson Daly is even better than Fallon and if it weren't for Carson having a great musical act from time-to-time there would be no reason to watch his show whatsoever. So I think there is no question... Conan followed by Craig is the perfect end to a good day.

10. Don't judge by this one performance
They've been in the studio lately, so I wouldn't put TOO much stock in this performance. It's likely they were all a bit rusty playing live, and the sound was crap. I can definitely hear the potential in the song, so I'll be looking forward to the release in September.

13. If you like the song
You should by the album "Q:Are We Not Men? A:We Are Devo" it is much better on that.
