they are far more hurtful, and less informative than the musings of meteorologists who are only required to open their drapes & look out any window be be seen as 50/50 right on a bad day i.e. "The sun may be shinning in your neighborhood by next week."

I fail to see how anything Robertson said in that two minute would cause alarm over the separation of church and state. Other things may get me concerned, but this dod not.

Robertson is a charismatic Christian (as opposed ot a fundamentalist; Falwell was a fundamentalist) who believes that earthquakes, hurricanes and other natural disasters are signs of God's displeasure with the nation on which the disaster is visited. He believes that he talks to God in strange way through strange visions. Oral Roberts, another well-known charismatic Chiristian, was once told to build a hospital by Jesus who appeared to him as a 900-foot giant.

I'm not asking anybody to believe this; after all, I don't. However, Roberts and Robertson and many others do. At the root of the matter, it's no worse than a belief in astrology, which is another thing many people believe and I don't.

What is meant by separation of church and state is simply that's Robertson doesn't get to be the officially recognized American spiritual leader and neither does anybody else. It means that the state isn't going to give a special status to the Roman Catholic Church or the Lutheran Church or the Espicopal Church or the San Francisco Zen Center. It also means that Pat Robertson can interpret the Bible as he sees fit.

Is it possible that we can be attacked by terrorists later this year? Of course it is. The most alarming thing about Bush's phomey war on terror is that it hasn't made us safer and probably less safe. That's my reason for saying it's possible; that Pat Robertson says that God told him though a vision isn't.

So, please, any one, tell me what the church state issue is? Why should I be concerned every time Robertson opens his mouth that the wall of separation is falling?
