The traditional media has been going down the tubes for years, and investigative journalism had essentially gone belly-up in America, until average citizens became so fed up with this system that they decided to do something about it. Out of that frustration grew the New Media - blogs, online videos, and citizen journalism. Today, these outlets have become the new mainstream media. Mike Papantonio talks with one of the pioneers of this revolution, Cenk Uygur, host of the Young Turks.

1. Online sources are the new main stream media?
I'd say the tide hasn't shifted yet.

They are still stuck on stories about newspapers dying and why the net can't really cover stories the way newspapers do now.

3. Depends on a number of factors.

But I believe the trend is away from traditional news media, and heading towards an entirely new paradigm.

I remember back when I was a kid we still sat down to watch the 6:00 News together. Those days are long gone for most. Old media just can't compare.

Even artists are working in ways they never could before, involving upwards of tens of thousands of people to take part in their project over a multitude of different media forms that together form something entirely new and interactive.

I noticed a shift years ago. My brain just refuses to accept passive media. Drives me crazy. I want to be able to look at an issue in a number of ways and correlate what makes sense to me, not be spoon fed what many times turns out to be falsehoods and outright lies.
