This guy proves once and for all the Republican Far Right can neither admit nor deny science, aren't able to answer a straight question with a straight answer, and are proving every day, minute by minute to be further and further out of the mainstream of America.

(edit - we posted a minute apart hahahah - sorry for the dupe folks)

2. In 2008, every GOP Presidential candidate said they believed in Biblical creationism.
Fix the GOP - get rid of the fundie nutcases.

10. And what is religion but a way to explain the inexplicable?
As science advances, what were once mysteries attributed to a superior being, we can understand that things occurred because of logical events or circumstances.

It wasn't that long ago when we were throwing virgins in volcanoes because we didn't understand earthquakes.

4. conservative extremists mock the scientific method
I recently heard Dennis Prager say that scientific studies are only true if they confirm what we know from common sense.

6. I'm guessing that "Pence" is a synonym for "Putz" . . .
Or maybe hypocrite. Pence knows quite well which end of the evolutionary egg goes up, but he also knows that his no-opposable-thumb constituency would have him burned at the stake if he admitted it.

So 'lican pols get burned either way: their trog supporters are at least capable of detecting insincerity, while rationalists are disgusted at their political pandering to know-nothings. Life is hard when your party has surrendered itself to a collection of flat-earthers and professional screamers.

9. T.R. left the GOP
T.R. left the GOP because he thought they had gotten to cozy with big biz. He had backed major anti-trust

laws and won disfavor from the party leaders. Hence the Bull-Moose ( actually "Progressive Party") party

came into being.

On the rare occasion that Matthews acts like a progressive, he's quite good.

Wish he was like that all the time.

12. HOW CAN SOMEONE CLAIM TO HAVE A SOLUTION TO A PROBLEM THEY DON'T BELIEVE EXISTS????????
It will never be possible for man to build a contraption that will allow him to fly but we have some great blue prints for it anyway. Yes. Really confident.

15. Madison County goes blue, but keeps this tool

I'm embarrassed to say I live in his district.

The only thing nice I can say about him is that he did actually take time out of his day to help award my husband his Combat Action Badge. Neither our Governor nor our Mayor could be bothered (both of them Repukes, too). The day he actually stepped off the plane, though, none of them showed.

17. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Teddy Roosevelt, who died in, what, 1919?
He is to them on parks, conservation and nature what The Sainted Reagan is on everything else.

The only difference is the relative age of the bones.

Time to try something new, y'all . . . .

21. Thank You!
Every time I hear one of these douche bags say "we're the party of Lincoln" I want to vomit. Lincoln believed in a government that represented it's majority and not a government diminished to appease major corporations. As far as Theodore, he LEFT the GOP to form the Bull moose aka the progressive party that wanted to separate the "unholy alliance" (TR's words) between big business and government. Present day repubs have betrayed those before them via Ronald Reagan Conservatism.

18. He's disingenuous
You can feel it and see it. He knows science is right. He even tries to use science to disprove science! "I think the science is mixed" Well, think again. An overwhelming percentage of scientists from many disciplines agree Global Warming is happening now and we're helping it along in a big way. No one is ignoring or suppressing a "growing skepticism in the science" because there isn't any growing skepticism. In fact the models are more alarming than ever. I'll bet he believes in the science that finds oil! Alas, just like Bible verse, you can't pick and choose only the parts you like and remain credible.

He just doesn't know this or he's lying. (I'll bet he can't describe the scientific method) If he doesn't know anything but what the scientists at Exxon have told him, he should say so. If he's lying....well.

He obviously knows there's something to evolution because he simply wouldn't answer the question. He sorta says "god did it" even though he knows evolution requires no supernatural help to go along.

Mathews is right on. He is either lying to cover his ass for his Medieval constituents, or he hasn't bothered to look into it or think about it outside what sycophants have whispered in his ear. IOW...he doesn't care if it's true or not. What makes money is his only concern.

Repugs live in a fantasy world where every birth is a blessing and no one pays taxes. Their ideas don't work and they refuse to recognize it. They are useless.

22. Right on Chris!
All the GOP, and their pundits, should be questioned like this before the conversation/discussion on virtually any topic goes any further. For too long, the GOP has been getting away with their anti-science agenda without being called on it.
