9. I'll second that . . . I was at the launching of Clearwater on May 17, 1969 . . .
at the Harvey F. Gamage Shipyard in South Bristol, Maine . . . chartered a bus and took 40 or so people from Rockland County up the coast for the big event . . . now, 40 years later and having sailed thousands of miles with hundreds of thousands of passengers (mostly school kids), Clearwater is in need of some major refurbishing . . . that's what last night's concert was all about . . .

if you can afford a few bucks, there's not an environmental group on the planet that's accomplished more than Clearwater . . . the sloop's still sailing after all these years, still educating kids about the river and the environment, still bringing people together to experience the Hudson as a historical, environmental, and recreational resource . . .

btw, the annual Great Hudson River Revival (ClearwaterFest) is coming up on Father's Day weekend in June . . . go to clearwater.org to see this year's lineup of performers . . . five stages, no waiting . . . :)

the festival is also a great place to find hand crafted goods, recorded music, t-shirts and caps, books, and all sorts of ethnic food and drink . . . and to learn more about the beautiful Hudson and all that's being done to clean her up . . . hope to see some DUers there . . . :hi:

11. Pete's been talking the talk
and walking the walk his whole life.

Hope I'm part of the lucky audience that helps him celebrate his centennial.

I LOVE YOU, PETE!

"National treasure" describes him perfectly.

Yep, I was there last night.
