1. "Random Anti-Capitalist American"
That may be the best caption I've ever seen for a "talking head" interview.

3. Those last two dudes looked like they were sharing a brain...
If they represent the typical Ron Paul supporter all I say is - whoa...

The first person interviewed seemed much more astute. Personally, I think there is little difference between Neo-Conservatives and Neo-Liberals, especially in terms of economics. It could be said that they are just two halves of the same beast. One sets up brutal global economic policy while the other half enforces it with the war machine. He's right about there being far too many Neo-libs in the Democratic party. Damn shame.

Yep. Like Bill Clinton and even Obama. Yikes. Lesser of two evils, I guess. I really would have liked to have seen Nader in there. Let's just hope Obama is as much like Lincoln as claims to aspire to.

4. This is why it's more important to stay true to an ideology and NOT a party.
Both Democrats and Republicans have betrayed traditional conservative and traditional liberal policies. A government is suppose to be for the people, by the people, and of the people; in that light it really doesn't matter if it's a big or small government.

What scares me about the Libertarian model is that it's like Republicanism; looks great on paper but highly improbable and leaves all types of faucets open for many to take advantage of. What people don't realize is that when you take power away from the government, you give it to the private sector.

A nice little cultured example of that is the Glass-Steagal Act in contrast to the Graham, Leach, Bliley Act and later the Modernization Act of 1999.

Look at Lincoln Savings and Loans, Enron, Fannie and Freddie, Big Pharma, Big Agra, Big Oil, the Auto Industry; you take the people's power away from the government, you let the private sector power it instead which then causes a synergy of greed and corruption.

Listen, I'm not saying our government is perfect, far from it, but you can't just remove it, or diminish it. We still vote our officers in (when Diebold's not involved) so on a certain level, we still have a say in our government. We don't have a say in the private sector; they answer to shareholders and a board of directors.

When one of the libertarians asked "Does it matter that I want less Government in a way that you want less government?"
The answer is Yes, it does matter. How the "remaining" government is used is where the lines in TRADITIONAL liberal and conservatives ideologies are drawn.

-Segregation of financial institutions (Commercial, Retail, Investment) and more stringent regulation thereof.
-Welfare
-Funding for Public Education
-Universal Healthcare
-Stricter Environmental standards
-No ban but stricter gun industry laws
-Employees rights/right to collectively bargain

These are things that I value because most are rights that people, throughout national and international history, and convinced their GOVERNMENT to provide. Things that government legislates and not some corporation.

A corporation's main purpose is to make as much profit as possible while limiting accountability. A government is suppose to serve it's citizens or least it's majority. Which ideal seems more meaningful to you? THAT's why I consider myself a liberal.

6. The Democratic Party
is infested with Neo-Liberals. Summers, Daschle, Clinton, Volcker... did I mention Clinton?
