1. Wow, so apparently that show did not have a single, solitary saving grace?
I didn't see it so I don't know. But usually, I have found that there's at least one decent segment per program.

2. Does someone pay this guy for his weekly commentary on SNL?
Who made him the expert? I'm just not seeing it...

4. He grows on you
IMHO, it is interesting that somebody actually takes the interest and time every week to critique the political skits on SNL. My first reaction was that this is useless information, but he grew on me after a couple of weeks and now I look forward to his critiques. Is he the expert? Well, technically yes he is the expert, only because I don't believe that anybody else does it. You, of course, are welcome to create your own videos each week if you think that you can offer better commentary every week. Is this useless information? Not any more. If you followed the last election, you would have witnessed just how much SNL played in the public's perception of the candidates. Even in post-election, they have the possibility of affecting how Obama is publicly perceived, FWIW.

In the bigger scheme of things, it doesn't matter who is the expert, it is just one persons opinion on SNL. I happen to enjoy his critiques and other skits and everybody is entitled to his/her opinions.

11. Expertise
My "expertise" (if you want to call it that) comes from having worked for "The Second City" for 25 years. I know a lot of the SNL writers and cast members and have had the opportunity to watch them up close for a long time. I'm also a political junkie, so when you put the two together it gives me as much credibility as most reviewers. But mostly I started to do these videos simply because no one else was, and I think the show has become an incredibly powerful force in defining the public persona of politicians.

14. That is a pretty interesting Life's history
I was half-joking about the expert part, actually. I thought that it was pretty funny that somebody was calling for an expert, otherwise you would have no credibility to critique SNL episodes? Are people really saying to themselves, "I sure hope that this guy is an expert. How else would I know to trust his opinions?" But hey, if an expert is what they want, I think that your background pretty much allows you to say "Well, yes I am!". Hopefully some of the people posting on this thread can sleep well now.

Now that I have gotten all of the important stuff out of the way, it must be a blast knowing and working with such talent. I always wondered what some of these people were like when they were not performing. I bet you have some stories. I actually studied improv for a few years as a hobby. It was alot of fun, but I never really had the talent to go beyond being a hobbyist. Who knows, maybe I will take it up again. It was good fun.

5. SNL has been crappy since Tina Fey left.
She elevated the humor. Now it's back to frat boy stuff and very boring.

10. Oh.... Tina left?
I wouldn't have even noticed, but for the internet. Haven't watched this show in years.

SNL needs to move over for something like the Carol Burnett or the Smothers Brothers re-runs. Am I getting old, or is it just time we have good variety sketch comedy?

12. Your Language
Poor form, my friend.

"About my SNL Reviews . . . I've worked in the Chicago Improv Community for over 25 years and have had the opportunity to work alongside Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Chris Farley, Jim Belushi, Steve Carell, Horatio Sanz, Rachel Dratch as well as many more of the funniest writers, actors and Directors in the world. I tend to be a tough audience. . . "

13. Next time, call a friend to help you work through it
I realize that it must be very traumatic to expect to see an SNL clip, but instead see a guy giving commentary. I feel your pain. You must have had a good cry over it all. Here is my suggestion for next time. I will even lay it out for you step by step.

Step 1: As soon as you see that it is not an SNL clip, hit the pause button (the two vertical lines). If you figure it out early enough, you will have only wasted 1 second of your life. I am guessing that you probably watched the video all the way through before realizing that it was not the actual SNL video.

Step 2: Look just below the video for the links to the direct SNL skits. If you can't find them in the post, call a friend over to help you. If you don't have any friends (my guess), just look for links that begin with http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live. They are right below the video.

It really is just that simple. Get a grip, man!

15. I think that
SNL won't be 'great' again until we see something like a Palin/Jindal ticket emerge and then only if Tina Fey and Kenneth the Page come on over to SNL for some special appearances. And I am not so sure I should have used the word 'great' in my previous sentence, since SNL political skits were pretty good during the last election cycle but not much else of the show... the bulk of the shows haven't been really great at all like they were in the 70s.

With all the great comedians and writers out there these days I really don't understand why SNL is so lame most of the time.
When the only thing that is fairly good each week is the opening political skit and weekend update - that isn't saying much.
Thank God for DVRs and the fast forward button on my remote.
