Hannity: Obama ‘Harbors Deep Resentment’ Of America, Just Like Dixie Chicks

On Friday, President Obama told a town hall audience in Strasbourg, France, that America’s tendency to dismiss Europe — as well as Europe’s tendency to blame America for every problem — had to end. “On both sides of the Atlantic, these attitudes have become all too common. They are not wise. They do not represent the truth,” Obama said.

That evening, Fox News’s Sean Hannity truncated Obama’s speech, cutting out Obama’s criticism of Europe’s anti-Americanism. Hannity was apoplectic that Obama would “blame America first,” declaring the president was just like the Dixie Chicks. What’s more, he insisted, the speech was proof of Obama’s “deep resentment” of America:

HANNITY: You know, I’m going to — I resent this. When you consider…all we have done just in the last century alone to save Europe from themselves. I resent this. I think it’s outrageous, the media’s ignored it. But don’t you think this is like the Dixie Chicks? <…>

HANNITY: But didn’t we see all of this in the campaign? As I was bringing up — didn’t Reverend Wright give us a little insight into his thought process? Didn’t, you know, Michelle Obama, America is a downright mean country. … But I’m thinking, didn’t we get some insight? When you sit on a board and give speeches with Bill Ayers, didn’t this — Do you think he harbors deep resentment that he just hides? Because I believe he does.

1. Fuck you Sean Play the whole quote

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/04/03/politics/100days/worldaffairs/main4918137.shtml?source=RSSattr=Politics_4918137

Such an effort is never easy. It's always harder to forge true partnerships and sturdy alliances than to act alone, or to wait for the action of somebody
else. It's more difficult to break down walls of division than to simply allow our differences to build and our resentments to fester. So we must be
honest with ourselves. In recent years we've allowed our Alliance to drift. I know that there have been honest disagreements over policy, but we
also know that there's something more that has crept into our relationship. In America, there's a failure to appreciate Europe's leading role in the
world. Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America
has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.

But in Europe, there is an anti-Americanism that is at once casual but can also be insidious. Instead of recognizing the good that America so often does
in the world, there have been times where Europeans choose to blame America for much of what's bad.

2. Sigh. Who wants to see Hannity salivate over treason?
Edited on Sun Apr-05-09 07:57 PM by Juche
Read between the lines, Hannity is almost begging the military to revolt when interviewing Tommy Franks.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/11/gen_tommy_franks_on_obamas_cha.html

HANNITY: Yes, well, but again, if we go back, and this is the question I want to ask you. So Senator Obama is going to be the commander in chief. So my question is, you know, how do the troops feel when, in the middle of a war, he accused them of air-raiding villages and killing civilians; when in the middle of a war Joe Biden warned him and said don't cut off funding for the troops or else thousands will die? He promised not to do it, then he voted to cut off the funding anyway.

Now, if I'm -- if I'm a soldier, I wouldn't trust you if you were my commander in chief, if you did that. Is he going to have any problems with -- is he going to have any problems with the military?

http://levellers.wordpress.com/2009/02/26/sean-hannity-advocates-treason/

The fact that people like Hannity are the media is why our media doesn't address this. When a guy almost begs the military to revolt against the president (which he seemed to be doing) and to want the public to violently rebel, then turn around and say someone else has problems with America and our institutions, we are fucked that our media can't figure out how deep the hypocrisy goes. Thank god for the internet and real news.

5. Hanity, et al
I think it is time to start translating statements made by Limpdick, Hanity, O'really, beck, and bitch ingram.

These folks are posing scenarios for assination, reveloution, sedition, treason, and genocide. I believe that these folks are working off a master plan to prepare America for civil war II. I think the recent mass killing shootings are a result of this insidious converstation between the Talk Show Demons and the politically ignorant. People are getting geared up for a fight and all of us who disagree are targets.

There is a very evil, but intelligent design emerging from the AM Patriots of Talk Radio!

4. Hannity translated from Swahili roughly means 'human garbage'

25% of the people in America believe this - and those numbers are slipping because as Hannity said, the real press isn't covering this the way he is covering it - with only one eye open. But he's peddling snake oil that only a particular kind of stupid will buy - and he makes his money and goes home and licks his plate. Dark souls are easy to get.

At least the 75% of America who are keeping both eyes open aren't watching nor believing this mess.

Personally, I enjoy seeing desperation manifest itself into dark souls like this - it proves that President Obama is changing America to a land of truths once again.

9. Is there something that our Congress can do to these people....
Edited on Sun Apr-05-09 09:48 PM by pauldg0
....isn't this treason?

There should be a bill written to remove treasonous disinformation that could weaken our nation. I mean Hannitty omitted the rest of the meaning of that part of his speech which happened to be beautiful.

I mean they all do that over there. This is not journalism, this is a weapon that thrusts a sword right through the heart of this nation when we are already vulnerable.

The average white trash "Joe" does not know a fricken thing about what is going on in this world and then they listen to Fox News before dinner every night to make them even dumber yet.

I say take them out. Can our friend Dennis K. start rattling some chains over there in Congress? How did they expose McCarthy? Wouldn't it be done in a similar way?

the psychopaths he associates with every day are really serious?

Huckabee is scary precisely because he simulates reasonableness much better than the troglodytes he counts as his base.

These two dimwits have to be leading the totally clueless, morons of America with their babble.

I kept playing back the "selective quotes" these butt holes repeat for their brain dead audience, and I can't seem to find the part where President Obama said anything about America "not being all that special". Did I miss something???

These clowns just don't get it or WANT to get it. The United States has just finished EIGHT f*cking years of the most ignorant and pompous clown act administration, where we have pretty much slighted and insulted every world power that didn't follow us into the gates of hell looking for Osama Bin Laden in IRAQ??

God, what a bunch of total losers.

Nation of morons....we're #1!!

...bitter because every day I want to beat the ever-lovin' shit out of some Repug commentator...confused because one day it's that fat fuck Limbaugh, another it's the crying pussy of a man Beck, and then today it's this shit-for-brains Hannity. I just hope if one of these guys turns up worked over, or worse, in an alley or something that I've got a good alibi. Now if O'Reilly were to sick one of his 'producer/stalkers' on me, then I don't believe that a jury in the country would find me guilty of anything if I took that mic and crammed up the guys butt-hole and beat the camera-man over the head with his SONY, or whatever they use these days. I'd certainly be willing to take my chances if for no other reason than the satisfaction.

16. People need to make a big deal out of this
This is EXACTLY what would have happened with the race speech during the campaign if they didn't know that everyone saw that speech, and saw how Obama balanced white and black grievances. The only reason they are cutting this one as they did is that they are banking on the fact that few people bothered to watch the overseas town hall and that they won't get called out on this. Keith Olbermann has to pick this up and run it tonight, and we need to be writing into CNN and demanding that they report on this, too. And Chuckles needs to be called out as much (or more) than Hannity. We need the country seeing what a bunch of liars and hypocrites these guys are, at every opportunity they present to us.

17. Hannity can't take constructive criticism;
instead he just labels it as "hating america". These people still think "we're #1!!!" "we're #1!!!" ... but in what?

Healthcare? -no. we're ranked 37th by the World heath Organization.

Public education? -no. we're not even in the top 25 according to a Telegraph(UK) ranking.

Crime prevention? -no. we're ranked #8 in crime rate. (#1 being the highest in crime)

Employment? -no. we're #12 according to The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)

Low Poverty? -no. we're ranked #21 from the country with the lowest amount of poverty.

Listen, I love my country, its history, its values, its freedoms, its innovations, and the vast amount of good that it's done for the rest of the world; I am a patriot but why is it considered unpatriotic to learn from the rest of the world? I'm sick of people being accused of being unpatriotic and America-hating when we stop for a moment and realize that some countries just do somethings better and show an aspiration on adopting new ideas. It's called HUMILITY; you put the arrogance aside and learn something.

18. Do REALLY what to shut these bastards up????
Edited on Mon Apr-06-09 06:49 AM by olegramps
There is only one way to cut them off, that is a massive BOYCOTT of their sponsors. Our friends in the gay community boycotted Coors Brewing Company and they were forced to change their policies of supporting anti-gay legislation. Every bar that catered to gays refused to sell Coors Beer and gays refused to buy it. I am not gay but I supported them and refused to buy their product. Now if a rather small percentage of the total population can be that effective, just how effective could we be with even 20% or 30%effectiveness? No company could stand to lose that amount of their share of the market.

I am all for free speech, but this is nothing more than fascist propaganda. These people are being paid to spread absolute lies just as the Nazis did. People moan and wring their hands but really don't do a damn thing about it. Hell, I abhor violence but I have to admit I would love to hear that some mob beat the crap out of some of the lying bastards. Why not really hurt them where it counts; their pocketbook? Bankrupt the bastards and this crap will cease.

19. I agree with the previous 2 posts

seems to me like EDUCATION would be the first step to shut them down. Am I being stupid when I suggest that no one with a bachelor/major degree can't take such shit serious?
Then again, there are all kinds of universities.

As for action, a boycott would certainly help. MediaMatters has done allot in that direction... But the thing is.. A boycott should not revolve around an institution... There should be a massive grass roots campaign, a website calling out the lies, rationally answering all their hate mongering PLUS a directed effort at contacting sponsors and anyone who is caught copying Fox/GOP talking points.

Then again... should we really care? These people are like 25 - 33% of the populace, and that is a very high number. How many americans are die-hard fox-Wingnuts?
Sometimes I get this feeling that we react stronger to Hannity and the shitfaces on fox than their original viewers do.

My Dad used to say that if you strongly believe in the democracy you are living in, you have nothing to fear of demagogues (easy for him to say as he is Swiss and Swiss wingnuts have no foxtv). Could it be that we don't really trust our democracy anymore?
I mean if things were ok with the general state of the union this really shouldn't be a problem, right?

21. Right-Wing Conceit and So-Called Resentment
Shammity's claim that President Obama harbors a deep resentment of America is ultimately based on the Far right's conceit that their world-view and their world view ALONE constitutes what it means to be a good American and to practice good American citizenship. To partially describe this right-wing viewpoint, I'd use word like arrogant, unthinking, insular, racist, unwilling to take criticism, careless, and uncaring.

Sean Vanity and the people who take him at his word don't get it. Progressives love America. We love it so much that it not only breaks our hearts to see it go down the path that the Radical Right started taking it as long ago as when George HW Bush was President, but also that we cannot remain silent in the face of the continuing right-wing campaign against truth, liberty, true respect for the individual, constitutional rights, and the respect for the individual that the so-called 'personal responsibility' party threw away during their quest for power.

To claim that today's 'conservative' mindset is the height of arrogance. Those of us from moderates to the left reject that idea completely. I, for one, reject that idea so thoroughly that I believe that Hannity's own claims to Americanism ought to come under genuine scrutiny.

When they say why do you hate America they mean why do folks hate Republicans, as they've proved time and time again they just simply don't believe in a collective society. Hannity knows full well why the President said that with all their sides freedom fries nonsense and saying how single payer work in Europe doesn't work when it clearly does that's why they choose to have it. As President he is demonstrating a humble face to the world than in in your face approach. Hannity should appreciate that it will lessen hardened feelings across Europe, but that's asking miracles I guess.
