1. It has been a long time since I have watched Fox.
It is astounding how far they have come. They have always lied. They have always distorted. They have always been a propaganda machine for the Republican Party.

But that clip ... Hannity and Rove, spouting lie after lie after lie and accusing Obama of being a radical socialist trying to grab power ... that was just too much. I am a strong believer in the 1st Amendment, but that clip seriously makes me question my support for it. Those lies ought to be illegal.

2. Did you ever read about Cenk's efforts to label Fox News as "Opinion Media"?

As you an see he came up with that quite a while ago, and ended up getting invited on Countdown with Keith Olbermann to discuss it (because Keith loved the idea). In fact , it was attempted at the last Netroots (formerly YearlyKos) convention.

4. Fox CABLE
Never let them 'brand' themselves by referring to what they broadcast as 'news'

7. Hey, you'll get no argument from me.
It's the "fair and balanced" line that's really grating IMO.

8. Fox News?
Once upon a time Fox actually had news with at least a bit of truth to it. but I stopped watching in 2005-2006 when they started to really go vile. Even then it was like... hey the world isn't coming to an end, quit panicking. But now even their news sections are totally untrustworthy. Quote polls, ratings etc. It's all horseshit. No facts to back it up. So yes. Fox Opinion Channel would be more like it. Unfortunately, there are many people brainwashed into this crap. (including my dad)

If one took Fox News and planted it's opinion on say msnbc and have it run in a direct left.... How many would actually believe Bush was the real person behind 9/11. Which I don't put much faith in. Fox went extreme right. Not just right, but extreme right. Anybody with any journalistic quality left long ago and Alan was one of the last. Shephard Smith ehh I don't trust him but he's not totally gone either.

11. I love the idea...
of Fox being called Opinion Media but would expand it to all the cable "news" outlets. Much as I like Olberman and Maddow they too are giving basically opinion or are editorializing. When I worked as a stringer for a local newspaper the first thing I was warned about was to avoid "editorializing" (i.e. inserting myself into the story and commenting on it). A tremendous amount of confusion would be avoided if instead of believing that Americans are getting news they knew they were getting the television equivalent of editorializing. It comes down to liking or disliking the person sitting in front of you on the screen and their selection of stories, tone of voice, and body language.

5. Cenk's got a great point
While it's been fun to watch the right wing implode, I knew it was just a matter of time before they found a way to spin things in their favor. We underestimate Rovian dirty tricks at our own peril.

6. Fox and News
...should not be mentioned in the same sentence! The words, Crazy, Stupid, Uninformative, Bullshit, and Liars are ok though.

12. Pox News and balanced in the same sentence
is fraud.
What Pox means by balanced is half lies / half truths, you figure it out. They do not bargain in good faith like their Republican puppet masters. An apt word to characterize Pox and Republicans would be grifters. Somebody should drop a dump truck full of bullshit on their headquarters' front step.

13. See it and call it by it's real name. "FASCISM"
It really is that simple. It is happening, and we are ass-deep in it already. It doesn't work, and it will fuck us all if we don't start getting a whole lot angrier about it.

14. Cenk is slightly more "amazed" than I am at what a well-oiled-machine the republican party is.
I don't think it's that tall an order for Hannity and Rove to conspire to spin and use talking points in favor of Wall Street corruption.
