Gotta' protect those poppies (and don't think I'm kidding----I'm not)

money laundering is big bizness for bankers. HUGE, actually, and makes a whole, whole lot of our economy go 'round.

3. One guy at work was all over me about how I was abandoning the Constitution
if I thought the AIG bonuses shouldn't be paid.

Then he emailed me that big AIG whiner's letter about betrayal.

Ugh.

13. This is bad- and I too want to be proven
wrong.

As I see it, the unions and manufacturing segment of our economy
are getting the shaft.

Michael Moore was the first one to speak out about this when he saw the
disparity between the way the Wall Street fatcats were treated vs. the Auto
Industry CEOs,in Congress.

I really want to be wrong here.

years to get their shit together and make better/more fuel efficient cars and the righies said Detroit was doing what the market demanded. And that was the right thing!

Now they're willing to drop 3 million jobs, rip off the worker's pension and health care, and destroy something that is fundamental to the economy short and long term - just to show those damn unions. It is inexcusable for Obama to pretend for a second this is okay. It's not. And it really pisses me off.

28. Thanks for viewing it. This has a pretty low view total for a featured video.
Either it was a really slow day/night or some people continue to stick their heads in the sand and go the see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil route which is depressing.

18. Is their a way to get this into the courts?
I would love to see a judge take a look at these contracts and how they have been handled. While I certainly don't blame Obama for this mess entirely, he is the one who is going to have to deal with it.

Maybe he is giving Detroit and the unions time to make the same legal argument Wall Street made? Takes this entire debacle out of his hands politically. I don't know. This sucks.

19. Why doesn't Obama stand up to them?
I think Cenk knows the answer, but can't bring himself to say it. If Our President isn't actually one of them, he is utterly beholden to them for obvious reasons. Time to wake up, folks.

22. Are you listening Mr. President? This is NOT fair to middle class workers who rely on these jobs to
pay for NORMAL expenses, not like the millionaires on Wall Street who make millions for SCREWING up and SCREWING their clients, and SCREWING the US treasury, thanks to the overly kind bailout of their SCREWUPS by your and Congress' actions.

Thank you Cenk!!!

(and someone make sure this thread gets sent to the president, a bunch of us sending it would be GREAT so he hears us and someone at least watches this TYT commentary).

30. It's the Golden Rule - they who have the Gold make the Rules - China has the Gold, hence...
... they are making the rules.

So much Chinese investment was put into AIG and other American interests, that no doubt they said the same thing to the U.S. that Obama said to Detroit today. Either make it work, or we will not invest another penny in you. America needed the money from China, so they were told AIG and other investment companies had to be made whole.

It's not rocket science. AIG, although it wasn't a bank, was treated as a 'bank' in China because of its high credit ratings - and Chinese people put their life savings into it - literally across the board. The Chinese government does not want a mass populist rebellion on its hands and is dictating to the U.S. what it must do to get more of China's money.

42. Democrats are lucky that
most of the working class is absolutely sure where the Republican party stands: Lower wages, fewer benefits, less time off, no grievance procedures, no interest in safety issues or working conditions, etc.. As far as they are concerned, we've got it better than workers in China so we should just be glad of that and quit complaining.

Despite being disappointed about the double standard, I hope like hell the Republicans don't make any gains in 2010.
