2. "the gov't has the leverage to do something but they're choosing not to do it"
That pretty much sums it up.

:grr:

3. This is f**king bullshit. Auto-workers MUST have their wages cut to match non-union scabs....
in order for GM to get government financial help, yet these assholes at AIG who crashed the system with their Credit Default Swap orgy can dole out bonuses on the taxpayers dime and the Obama administration just shrugs it's shoulders and says " I can't do anything about it, it's a contractual thing".....

What about the UNION contracts? They don't count, apparently.

5. Crap, I missed that about the auto-workers and the GM financial help. Didn't that bailout mainly go
to GMAC, the financial arm of GM?

8. Obviously, the "contract" argument is a canard...
...since, as you point out, contracts made with auto workers don't mean squat.

Nation of laws, my ass.

6. In California, teachers are being laid off, while these greedy creeps get their
bonuses. Obama should name names on national TV. Who is receiving the bonuses? Shame them on national TV, President Obama.

7. Time for a salary Cap
Why does anyone need to make more than $250,000 a year. That is still almost 10 times my salary but the idea that anyone is getting 10s of Millions of dollars or even 100s of millions is an outrage. If that makes me a Commie then I am Guilty.

9. If I hear one more person say that if bonuses are withheld, the talent is going to leave
All I can say is FUCK YOU!!!!!!!! FUCKING LEAVE!!!!! Let all of these fucking criminals get the fuck out of AIG, Citibank and wherever else the "Talent" that bankrupted the company is threatening. The companies will not go under becuse they are getting billions upon billions of dollars. Just say no bonuses for people who caused companies to be bailed out. Where are they all going to go to anyway? If I work at a company and bankrupt it, nobody cries for me to stay. This is insane. This administration should be doing alot better than to pull this shit. We just got rid of somebody who lived for this kinda crap. The reason that we elected obama was to change the system, not continue it.

10. If the president really wanted to stop them, he would
Even if there is no legal basis, stop all bonuses. Period. If they want their bonuses, let them sue. We can't keep rewarding the people who got us in this mess.

11. What's really insidious
is that these bonus schemes validate the behaviors that caused the disaster.
