Cheney fearmongers: Obama is ‘making some choices’ that ‘raise the risk…of another attack.’

Weeks after President Obama was inaugurated, former Vice President Cheney warned that Obama’s policy promises — including closing the Guantanamo Bay prison and ending torture — would lead to a nuclear attack on U.S. soil. Today, in a new interview with CNN, Cheney upped his fearmongering, insisting Obama has made Americans “less safe”:

KING: I’d like to simply ask you, yes or no, by taking these steps do you believe the President of the United States has made Americans less safe?

CHENEY: I do. I think those programs were absolutely essential to the success we enjoyed of being able to collect the intelligence that let us defeat all further attempts to launch attacks against the United States since 9/11. I think that’s a great success story. … President Obama campaigned against it all across the country. And now he is making some choices that, in my mind, will, in fact, raise the risk to the American people of another attack.

1. I'm sure the evil prick would love another attack of some sort.
He's practically salivating over the thought of it.

2. I have no doubt that this obsessed warmaker/torturer . . .
and his NAZI cronies are responsible for 9/11 -- MIHOP ---

and probably the '93 attack on the WTC.

These people aren't going away -- they'll be back!

4. In a way, he's right.
Not trying to pre-emptive destroy the US for Al-Qaeda (or whoever) could increase the risk for an attack.

Of course we can counter that by running a competent government. Something the the previous adminstraion could not do.

7. He's talking Boijinko-style bombs out of Heathrow
Edited on Sun Mar-15-09 10:25 AM by Bolo Boffin
And the government already knew about those style of bombs because Ramzi Yousef, the inventor of those bombs, was already in custody. Seeing how easy it was to build those bombs, the government could have put the 3 oz. container rule in place and the Western nations would have followed suit.

Mr. Cheney is a liar. Waterboarding was not necessary to stop those attacks. The federal government doing its fucking job was all that was needed.

ETA: By the way, Boijinko bombs work because they are detonators to the fuel tanks onboard the aircraft. How much fuel would have been left over after the planes had flown over the Atlantic from Heathrow? Cheney specifically says that the planes would have been blown up over America. Would the Boijinko bombs have even worked?

8. I believe that 9/11 was an inside job.
And like the Kennedy assassinations, we may never find out what the real truth from rumors are. The US now absolutely REQUIRES a war or wars each decade to keep the economy afloat in an ocean of red ink, since we have lost so many non-military related manufacturing jobs after Vietnam. What good is all that military bases, equipment, ordinance, vehicles, tanks, aircraft, and vessels, if they just sit unused? How can defense contractors and manufacturers stay in business if there is no war or any threat of attacks to justify new projects and more spending?

While Chimpy and Cheney were busy "defending" us from Islamic terrorism, their global corporate capitalist cronies were attacking us with impunity, through their domestic economic terrorism.

Cheney is destined to burn forever in the deepest bowels of Hades. Hitler, Stalin, Napoleon, Mussolini, Mao, Tojo, along with the other most infamously evil leaders in Earth's history, eagerly await him.

10. Fear is all they have left
Republican monsters have nothing left but FEAR itself. This man should be in jail and awaiting trial by the world court followed by trial in US court.

I'm a LIHOP and I strongly suspect Cheney was part of the LIH part. What a total monster.

11. Cheney thinks by starting with a conclusion and then justifying that conclusion.
That was the flaw in the intellectual methodology of the Bush administration. They would say to themselves, here is our ideology. Based on that ideology, we want to do xyz. To justify that from a public relations point of view, we need data to show that xyz is the best thing to do. And then -- they commissioned people to find the data that would "prove" that xyz was the correct choice of action.

Here is how you should decide policy: Ask people for ideas about different policy possibilities. Get data on each possibility. Weigh the pros and cons and then, and only then, based on objective data not driven by ideology, but by facts, select the policy that is most likely to be successful.

Bush, Cheney, et al. failed so frequently because their thinking was faulty from the beginning to the end in everything they did.

12. I can't watch this
How does that POS get off having anything to say about anything? I don't get it. He ought to be locked up. And I know this makes me some type of pathological disorder, but I wish he could be threatened with or subjected to the same type of treatment that he ordered for others. He needs to STFU and be treated as irrelevant.

13. Screw CNN, John King had a chance to grill Cheney and instead he lobs softballs
"I’d like to simply ask you, yes or no, by taking these steps do you believe the President of the United States has made Americans less safe?".

Instead of making Cheney defend himself King gave him the opportunity to attack Obama, when the attack was made then King says he is going to give Cheney "as much time as is needed" to back up those attacks.

This is not journalism, when CNN gets an interview with the man who may well be the worst criminal in American history they need to ask the tough questions that will expose that criminal for who he is. CNN failed to ask the tough questions in this interview and instead gave Cheney a microphone to lie into without any repercussions for his lies. Screw CNN.
