The bit is fine, but the lame interjections from Shaffer go a long way toward ruining it for me. Does someone think he is funny? Besides himself, I mean.

Every sitcom since the begining of time has the annoying neighbor character. They make you like the main characters even more. They add tension.

At least Schafer has muscal chops. If not for that, he'd be intolerably borish.
