What did I learn on fringe news network Fox today (Friday, actually)? What is obvious to everyone but the conservative Kool Aid drinking set: Fox News' lies like a dog when it claims the network is "fair and balanced."

I've been accused by conservatives of data-mining clips to distort Fox News' spin. Sure, this is the highlight reel but I defy any right-winger to put together clips of O'Reilly, Hannity, Huckabee, Cavuto, Beck, etc. promoting any progressive ideas. If they're balanced they wouldn't be exclusively promoting a puritanical conservative ideology. Any criticism of Republicans is in the context of they deviated from the right-wing faith.

Keep in mind all these video clips came from a single evening of viewing.

Warning: It takes a strong stomach to watch this. ;)

4. FOX News defined
I will like to advance the suggestion that FOX News means Fixated On Xenophobic News. So I am not in the least surprised of all the nonsense they fling around by their talking-heads all the time. It is always about the fear of the middle and lower classes ever banding together to demand fairer treatment from the powerful in the society.

2. That really bothers me
How can that even be legal without a disclaimer? How can they have had such blind faith in George 'I'm a war president' Bush and bitch so hard if anyone complained about HIM? Anyone who complained was an un-american traitor and now it's okay to trash the President and the country. I don't like how these people's opinions are presented as news. What is it about 20 million viewers whom hold such sentiments out of 300 million? Sheesh.

6. Did you ever read about Cenk's efforts to label Fox News as "Opinion Media"?

Not only did Keith invite him on Countdown back in 07 to discuss it, but the NY Times wrote about how the Netroots convention tried it last summer.

3. How dare Winnie Cooper look so hot
and spew the Republican talking point. My heart is broken. I may need to burn my Wonder Years DVD collection.

7. Cute as a button; sad to hear that she's vacant upstairs.
I feel your pain. I can't watch "Everyone Loves Raymond" after I learned Patricia Heaton was a Rethug.

I wouldn't have felt that way before George Bush came along; he put an "ugly" stamp on "Republican".

8. Thanks for the sympathy
Yeah, it is pretty sad. At risk of sounding melodramatic, it is as though we die inside just a little bit for holding our political views so strongly. I have the same problems with friends of mine that I find out have very different views than I do. I should be able to rise above it, but after some debates with friends, I can't get past the knowledge that they feel a way that I think is so wrong.

9. I still watch and enjoy 'Frasier', even though Kelsey Grammer is a Republican...
...who, by the way, supported Rudy Guilliani.

It's just a sitcom, for cryin' out loud!

10. I agree with you.
Still, it is *a little* annoying that he's a Republican. It's not a deal-breaker, I just wish it wasn't so. Kinda like Tom Cruise and Scientology.

12. I know what you mean. You wouldn't expect it from someone that sympathetic.
It's a disappointment.

Question just popping into my head: why is forgotten former 90's child actress Danica 'Winnie Cooper' McKellar sharing her political points of view on a 'news' station?

17. Well, that's my point: how can they keep up the air of being a 'news' station...?
...when they have guests like Danica McKellar on?

18. All I know is she did nothing for me as a kid watching the Wonder Years.
I'm sure I'm in the minority but even as a kid I thought she was very plain and boring (why did Kevin waste so much time pining over her?), not like say Nicole Eggert from Charles In Charge.

;)

Er... physically, that is (not talking intellectually, of course). :P

5. Is it just me or is Hannity getting makeup tips by watching Joel Grey in Caberet?
And you are correct about the strong stomach. I'm going to go watch something less horrifying like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

11. Wait... Bush defeated Al Qu'aida? When was that, then?
Did I miss something? Did I not pay attention?

And did Bush keep us safe, O'Reilly? Are you counting 9/11 and the anthrax deaths? Or Katrina?

15. Interestingly enough, an actual survey found the exact opposite:
http://thinkprogress.org/2007/04/16/daily-show-fox-knowledge/

The survey also showed regular viewers of COMEDY SHOWS 'The Daily Show' and 'The Colbert Report' were the best informed. Tells you something about American 'news' media today...

14. Winnie?? What happened?
Seeing her like this took a small part of my childhood away. Winnie Cooper was the voice of all things good in my childhood... I think I'm going to block this video out now.

But I made it through. My brother and SIL loves Beck. He came over today and started with the socialism shit again. And how Bush just drove us to the cliffs edge and Obama is taking us down. I told him Bush took us 3/4 of the way. There is no reasoning with these loons. If I sent him this clip he would love it and agree 100%. And he went to college. What a waste of money. He even compared Obama to Hitler and the war on the Jews. He I guess sees this as the war on the rich. He's a Realtor and made his money from the housing market.
