2. Deja DU: Nov 2007 Are ALL COMMUNICATIONS routed overseas to circumvent US law and the Constitution?
Edited on Thu Jan-22-09 09:34 PM by L. Coyote

"ALL COMMUNICATIONS" is what my informant said too!

Deja DU: Are ALL COMMUNICATIONS routed overseas to circumvent US law and the Constitution?
Nov-09-07 - http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x2245762

"I was told years ago that ALL fiber optic communication traffic was routed overseas so that "everything" was moved outside the protections of the law and Constitution and ANYTHING could be monitored. I thought the idea quite fantastic even though it came from a very reliable source that would know exactly such things. Then, the story of the fiber optic splitters hit my radar. I now see now how easily exactly that, routing ALL COMMUNICATIONS overseas, was accomplished. .... "

6. Fixed. You can't just copy DU links. I took too much time off after the election!
You have to do the left-click and 'Copy Link Location' to get the whole thing.

9. yep, I hate that, but figured it out after having so many not copy right. let's hope Justice gets
these people for these ethics violations. This stuff is so powerful, and I'd be shocked if people don't face prison time for this. Huge story, glad he went to Keith, getting on TEE VEE that way. :)

5. Here's my question: What would it take for members of the
Bush administration to take some of that information with them? Seems to me a few strategically copied CDs of really juicy information about the private lives of some of the people who were "targets" (maybe that is all of us?) and some of the members of the Bush administration would have a lot of power especially in the media and in Congress.

7. They had to go after people before they left. Now, the USAs are all gone. Think Siegelman
and how they had to fabricate a case against him out of air.

If they had anything, they used it, like Marc Dann who was investigating Ohio election fraud,
or Spitzer, the Sheriff of Wall Street, who was blowing the whistle on the coming bank failures.

They wanted to smear every Dem they could before the election, and obviously illegally spied on those they considered threatening!!

13. I think you are overly optimistic. The worst is yet to come from these
Republican extremists. If Obama fails to prosecute the violations of FISA, we will be in deep trouble in this country in the coming years.

8. In 2006, I posted on DU
that the DOD was 'hitting' my firewall daily.

At the time, all of the info into my computer was being sent thru 'ICOP' a separate computer that could tell me who was trying to access my computer, and when.

Every morning by 5:30am the DOD 'showed up'- in addition to all of the regulars from China, Russia and etc.

I wish this guy could tell us more. Hopefully, the Obama team will be on this.

15. Olbermann asks if Barack Obama's new administration can put a stop
to this eavesdropping.

The bigger question, of course, is if the latest gaggle of politicians even wants to curb such surveillance.

NSA spied on American journalists for Bush administration

....
AMY GOODMAN: Has Congress responded to your letter offering to testify as a former employee of the National Security Agency?

RUSSELL TICE: Not yet. Of course, the holidays—you know, we just had the holidays here, so everybody is out of town. I can’t condemn Congress too much yet, because I faxed it out on, I do believe, the 18th of December, and we’re just getting into the new year.

AMY GOODMAN: And who did you send it to?

RUSSELL TICE: I sent it to the chairs of the Senate Intelligence Committee and the House Intelligence Committee, the SSCI and the HPSCI.
