Dennis Blair is slated to be picked by the Obama team to be the Director of National Intelligence, the most powerful intelligence office in the government. Forget Panetta, this guy would be his boss. Looks like an unsavory individual.

The decision is to be announced this morning. Please call or write to oppose the selection of Dennis Blair to be the Director of National Intelligence.

http://change.gov/ or, (202) 540-3000.

Also sign the online petition opposing this appointment: http://etan.org/

1. I wrote to Obama's change.gov. website and expressed by disapproval
for whatever it is worth, not much I imagine. Interesting that Senator Finestein was more than OK with this guy but not Panetta. Blair has a terrible record and should not fill this position for National Intelligence.

7. It won't have an effect, but I posted the links anyway, just so we can have that "I voted" feeling.

3. do you think that they will listen?
forget it. NO ONE cares. Obama has his own agenda. If your interests are served, it is by coincidence.

No, I'm not bashing Obama. I came to the realization this morning that we are truly impotent.

I hope I am able to control my own skin today. That's my only chance for sanity.

4. K&R
Dear God - this begs the question - is there NO ONE else qualified and who in the hell is advising him or is this all his doing? I was thrilled that John Brennan pulled out but now his back in, without having to go through Senate confirmation, how convenient.

5. Yes, how convenient.
I don't know who is advising Obama on these selections, but I do know that Blair will be advising Obama on Intelligence if chosen.

8. While people are yelling about the known appointments this one is under the radar.
It appears many don't really know about the potency of the position that will be filled by Blair.

Many still think the CIA is the big intelligence office.

From a USA Today article from 2004:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2004-08-02-intel-analysis_x.htm

-clip

"Bush's proposals represent a major demotion for the CIA and its director, diminishing power that the agency and its chief have held going back to the historic National Security Act of 1947, which established the CIA and the office of secretary of Defense. Though Bush praised the work of "the dedicated and hardworking men and women of our intelligence community," his proposals represent a de facto verdict by the White House that the agency has not performed well.

Currently, the CIA director wears three hats: head of the CIA; coordinator of all U.S. intelligence across the nation's 15 intelligence agencies; and principal intelligence adviser to the president. Under Bush's proposal, the CIA director would retain only the first of those three jobs."
