Disinformation, secrecy and lies: How the Gaza offensive came about

http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1050426.html

"...Sources in the defense establishment said Defense Minister Ehud Barak instructed the Israel Defense Forces to prepare for the operation over six months ago, even as Israel was beginning to negotiate a ceasefire agreement with Hamas. According to the sources, Barak maintained that although the lull would allow Hamas to prepare for a showdown with Israel, the Israeli army needed time to prepare, as well. Barak gave orders to carry out a comprehensive intelligence-gathering drive which sought to map out Hamas' security infrastructure, along with that of other militant organizations operating in the Strip..."

Six months of secret planning - then Israel moves against Hamas

"Preparations

Unlike the confused and improvised Israeli response as the war against Hizbullah in Lebanon unfolded in 2006, Operation Cast Lead appears to have been carefully prepared over a long period..."

1. While poor innocent Hamas smuggled anti-tank missiles into Gaza.
Is war more noble if it's spur of the moment? Of course they planned it. Here's the funny thing, they still needed an excuse. Hamas knew what they do. And it deliberately gave them the excuse.

Stop pretending that this is just between Israel and the Palestinians. It is between Israel and Hamas and FATAH. We don't hear word one about Fatah on the news. But Hamas is positioning itself for negotiations with the new American government.

Meanwhile, in Ramallah, the children are still quite alive.

3. Not saying Hamas is innocent at all, but the contrast of power
and weapons between the two should be taken into account.

5. This is an important perspective - MUST SEE video
I am guessing that most Americans have no idea how much of their tax dollars are going to Israel to buy armaments to bully their neighbors. If we are providing that much monetary support, we should be able to have more influence on a peace process, but the B*sh administration has done nothing.

7. Thanks...
back in 2006 a woman in Lebanon was quoted as saying...

'the US gives us food, they give Israel weapons'

this was stated when Rice announced the humanitarian aid to Lebanon after the bombing.

:(
